This one was made using chicken wire mechanics (no floral foam), which gives it a lovely relaxed look, and is kinder on waste too.

It was a pleasure to make this fresh laurel crown (corona d'alloro), for a university graduation.🌿

Linking back to ancient Greek and Roman customs, Italy carries the tradition of wearing a wreath of laurel leaves to symbolise wison, victory, achievement and academic honour.

We learned this interesting tidbit too... the Italian word for a graduate, 'laureato', means crowned with laurel. This is where the English word 'laureate' comes from.
So that's what Poet Laureate means!

Huge congratulations to all the graduates this year, and a big good luck to everyone getting their GCSE results this Thursday. 🎓
