🍂 **NEW STOCK JUST ARRIVED!** 🍂

We've had another busy few weeks here at Holyrood Architectural Salvage, with some fantastic and rather unusual pieces finding their way into the showroom!

Here's a little selection of our latest arrivals, including:

⛪ Beautiful Victorian stained glass windows rescued from Woodend Free Church.

🍺 Original wooden pews and booth dividers from the well-known Milnes Bar in Edinburgh, along with a rather charming old wh**ky advertising board.

🪑 A stunning pair of 1930s Art Deco chairs, originally made by the National Furniture Mart in Rangoon.

🔥 An unusual antique cast iron and ceramic stove.

As always, these are just a handful of the interesting things we've had arriving recently!

🚚 **We now offer UK-wide delivery on selected items**, so you don't necessarily need to be local to shop with us.

Have a browse through the photos, and if anything catches your eye, feel free to get in touch or pop along for a look.

A lovely wee story behind our latest salvage ❤️

We've recently acquired a beautiful collection of Victorian stained glass and doors from the former Woodend Free Church in West Lothian, a church which sadly no longer stands.

But it's the story of how these pieces survived that makes them particularly special.

We acquired them from a lovely lady whose late husband had grown up locally and had been christened in the church as a young boy.

Many years later, when the church was due to be demolished, he was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to go back inside and rescue some of its original stained glass and doors.

Rather than see these beautiful pieces lost forever, he saved them and kept them safe for all these years.

When I visited his wife, she kindly showed me around her home, including a stunning vestibule door her husband had made himself, incorporating some of the original stained glass. It was absolutely beautiful!

Sadly, her husband passed away a wee while ago, and she felt it was time for the remaining glass to find new homes where it could be enjoyed and appreciated once again.

And that's where we come in!

We've brought around 30 sections of this wonderful old glass back to Holyrood Salvage. Unfortunately, roughly 70% have some form of damage, so we're going to spend a bit of time carefully cleaning them and hopefully repairing as many as possible, using some of the more badly damaged sections to save the others.

It's going to be a bit of a labour of love, but we think it'll be worth it.

There's something quite special about knowing these windows once filled a church with colour and light, and that, thanks to one man's efforts, they'll hopefully continue doing so for generations to come.

We'll share more photos as we work through them, and the surviving pieces will eventually be available for sale.

A lovely bit of Scottish history saved. ❤️

🧁 We've got a new member of staff today! 🧁

Our youngest entrepreneur, Anna, has set up her very own cake stall at Holyrood Architectural Salvage! ❤️

She's been busy making chocolate and vanilla cupcakes, and at just £1.20 each, they're probably the cheapest things in the showroom! 😂

So if you're popping in for a browse today, why not treat yourself and support her wee business venture?

No rest for the wicked… not even at 8am on a Sunday morning! 😂

Van filled to the gunnels with another cracking haul of reclaimed pieces this morning — and there are some really good ones in amongst it.

Keep an eye on the page next week as we get everything unloaded, cleaned up and properly photographed. 👀

Plenty more details to come!

Not every day you get an etched glass oak door from somewhere as historic as Jenners on Princes Street! 😍

Even better, we’ve found the same etched design still documented inside the building in the Historic Environment Scotland archives.

A few new arrivals after a bit of a road trip over the weekend! 🚐

First stop was Drumkilbo House near Blairgowrie, where we collected four lovely old doors, before heading back down to Kelty for another load of doors and a few more interesting bits and pieces.

Some cracking pieces in this lot — including that rather impressive brass peacock fire screen! 👀

Everything is now back with us in Broxburn and will be making its way onto the website soon.

A few more new arrivals at Holyrood Architectural Salvage!

It’s been another busy week with plenty of interesting pieces finding their way through the doors — antique fireplaces and mantels, old advertising crates, a fantastic travelling trunk, a pair of Barcelona-style leather chairs, reclaimed bells, garden edging and plenty more.

And just a wee reminder that we’re now in Broxburn — if you haven’t made it along to the new place yet, there’s a lot more to see than we could ever squeeze into a Facebook post!

Open Tuesday–Thursday & Saturday, 10am–4pm. Friday by appointment.
New stock arriving every week, so it’s always worth another wander round. 👀
