We absolutely love seeing traditional craftsmanship brought to life in such a personal and meaningful way 🤩

These stunning bespoke pieces were created by Holly Milner (), as leaving gifts for two Royal Navy Officers from the Marine Engineering Branch, combining acid etched glass, beautifully water gilded 23.5ct gold, 18ct lemon gold detailing, and natural lilac abalone, all finished within handmade solid oak frames.

Holly’s work blends technical precision with creativity and storytelling, resulting in pieces that feel both timeless and deeply personal. We especially love how the rich gilded finishes catch the light against the etched glass 👌

We’re proud to see our gold leaf used as part of such meaningful work ✨

Transfer gold leaf offers the beauty of genuine gold with greater control during application, making it ideal for detailed gilding, lettering, signage, outdoor projects, and decorative finishes.

Transfer gold leaf is lightly pressed onto a sheet of acid-free tissue paper, helping you handle, position, and apply the leaf with far more precision 👌

For projects requiring even more control, especially exterior work or intricate lettering, we also offer a tighter machine press using our in-house pressing machine.

⚠️Please note: tighter pressing is not supplied as standard with transfer leaf orders, but can be arranged on request depending on the needs of your project. All leaf is sent out as a standard press. Let us know if you need a heavier press for your project and we will happily oblige!

✨ Project Spotlight ✨

These images showcase the impressive results achieved using the Kölner Instacoll gilding size on a large-scale architectural gilding project by NKT Studios in Arizona ✨ It is a great example of how Instacoll performs on exterior architectural surfaces, creating a high sheen gilded finish built to stand the test of time. The leaf used on this project was gold leaf.

As the official UK distributor of Kölner products, we’re always pleased to see these materials used within heritage-focused projects where craftsmanship and finish are important.

We are running some Kolner workshops with Richard Walker through the summer so please get in touch for information. Instacoll will be demonstrated as part of the Kolner range of Sizes along with the rest of the extensive range

This week, we’re shining a light on the incredible work of Kristoffer Hermansson (), a Swedish decorative artisan based in London whose craftsmanship and attention to detail continue to impress us 🤩

Kristoffer specialises in marbling, woodgraining, trompe l’œil, and decorative painted finishes, combining traditional techniques with a refined contemporary eye ✨

Today, we’re featuring three recent panels that showcase his distinctive approach to depth, texture, and realism:

2️⃣ A Carrara-inspired centre panel with Grey Breche stiles and rails, elevated with beautifully executed trompe l’œil details
3️⃣& 4️⃣ A rich mahogany and trompe l’œil study exploring depth and layered decorative effects
5️⃣ A striking Portoro centre panel paired with Vert de Mer / Antique-style stiles, rails, and a Grand Antique-inspired baseboard finish

What makes Kris’ work even more impressive is that these finishes are all created using water-based medium, proving that traditional decorative effects can still be created using low VOC products creating refined, and incredibly realistic finishes whilst looking after our planet!

This full-day session on Saturday 27th June is an opportunity to develop your gilding skills in a focused, professional studio environment.

Throughout the day, you’ll explore a range of Kölner systems and techniques, working across different surfaces, from fine detail applications to more textured, architectural finishes. It’s all guided step by step, giving you the confidence to understand not just how to apply materials, but when and why to use them.

Participants leave with practical skills they can apply straight away, along with a much deeper understanding of the materials they’re working with.
