Well what a day it has been here at Bridgeys Kitchen 😱
This has never happened to me before beyond a bit of hay fever .
This morning I developed symptoms of an allergy that piriton didn't touch .I was in agony to be honest -severe itching all over and hives, swollen tongue - the works .
It got to the point where we were forced to close the shop as I was carted off to hospital where my blood pressure dropped out and I was puking all over resus .
After a few hours ,iv stuff and steroids I was 100% better , and am now home wondering what the hell happened .
The most likely cause of the allergy is new washing tabs -a fact that frightens me for others as it was very unpleasant .
We apologise but had no other option but to close . The shop will be open again tomorrow.
Below is a photo of what I believe set me off .
Ariel 3 in 1 tabs (farm foods offer 2 packs for£15 at the moment . Be very careful - I would not wish it on anyone x

Do you ever get the feeling you're being watched 👀🤣❤️❤️
These gorgeous Easter bunnies are now at the shop ready to find new homes . They have lovingly hand knit by pal carol Carol Snowden and her mum.
ALL proceeds to Christie's - I am trying to help her beat last years record of £2200 . Come on 👏
Included in the lowly £2.50 per bunny is a cadburys cream egg !!

Not a brilliant start to our Christmas as we discovered that Bridgeys Kitchen had been burgled overnight 😤🤬
Thanks to all the people who let us know .
Would appreciate it if folk local to the shop on st Matthews street could check cameras and doorbell footage and any info would be greatly appreciated .
It appears the little angels discarded the till drawer half way up the backs , not interested in small change as they left that , just notes (perhaps they deem small change as beneath them)
Thankfully we don't ever leave any takings at the shop .
Anyway, new floor is going in tomorrow so it will be good as new in no time😁

To all our brilliant customers !!
Well today didn't disappoint - we were super busy and everyone was in such good cheer . It was lovely to see , it really was.
We know that times are difficult , and honestly , we appreciate all our customers . When you choose us we are truly grateful .
We thank our small team for all their hard work throughout the year , it's been a challenge but we knew you were up for it 👏👏
We genuinely wish everyone a very merry Christmas and a brilliant 2026 . We should cherish every moment.

A great bit of news - the work on the shop to bring it into the 21st century is coming to an end !! And we head into 2026 full of hope for the year ahead .

The best snippet of news is that when we reopen on 2nd January we will be open 7 DAYS A WEEK (so many people have asked us and we are now in a position to do just that),🥳🥳

For info folks, our landlord has finally accepted that he has to update the premises in terms of the fabric of the building and so work has commenced in our kitchen!!
We look forward to these changes obviously !!
It's all going on!!
We have been asked repeatedly recently when the" Christmas cracker wrap" will be available (for those who don't know-it's sausage , fresh chicken , bacon and paxo stuffing and cranberry sauce lovingly griddled and served in our 12inch wrap with a pot of hot gravy for dunking!!)
and we are happy to announce it should be available this week!!

The other day , sadly ,we received an awful review from an individual . I responded with an apology but when we looked into the complaint we found a number of things about Aiden that we really didn't like.

Firstly , When he came to the shop on Sunday he was as high as a kite on God knows what and I doubt it he knew a good sandwich if it jumped up bit him on the derrier!!
Secondly , he seems to have a fixation (unhealthy) with a member of our team , and he thought it would be funny to leave a sh*tty review ( attention seeking in the hope she would warm to his advances🤦)
I don't know which finishing school this joker went to but it didn't work on her 🤣.
I would welcome the opportunity to get this young man to work for us for just 1 hour to get a taste for how difficult our job is at times however I doubt he would get out of bed 😉
