The Wool Boat A floating wool and yarn shop The Wool Boat is a based on a 57 foot long narrow boat called "Emma Maye". Bretts.

We stock a wide range of yarns and wools, mainly from J.c. During the winter months we are based around west Lancashire on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal in Burscough and then during the summer months we travel the inland waterways of the country, mooring up in villages and town's we pass through when we are open for the public to come aboard to purchase yarn's and all the other knittng equipment, pattern's, kneedles etc.

No Sunday Stitches this week, it's a Tuesday visit to the seaside instead, but still some stitching, but not mine. It's the Gansey Girl on the harbour at Bridlington. We've been here a few times but never visited her before. A nice mild day but a bit breezy...the hair!
Col has also taken a pic of the Gansey Girl info board for explanation of what she is and the gansey she is knitting.
A few years ago I designed a "modern" gansey pattern of which I have knitted quite a few. Mine's not knitted in the traditional style in the round but sewn together, works for me.

Short week for us before we have a short break over the Bank Holiday weekend and a bit more.
The plan is to be open near The Slipway on Thursday afternoon, the 27th August while it is the Knit and Natter in the pub when everyone is all welcome to join the Slipway Stitchers in the pub, welcoming any stitchers, in which ever craft, to join them from 1 until about 4. For further info call Carole on 07919 598911.
You may find Capt Col in the pub as it gets nearer 4 o clock!
Then we will be closed for a couple of weeks until the 10th of September.

Sunday Stitches 23.8.2026. It’s been a steady day in the yarn shop today; a nice amount of yarn sold to a good range of customers on a nice day. Sunny so curtains closed on that side of the boat.
Still a bit of time for Carole continuing working knitting a scarf.

Whe Hey We have a mooring in Burscough for the first time in a while near Burscough Wharf. Maybe because the Liverpool Link has re opened into Salthouse Dock so folks are boating there,
