Good-quality firewood deserves good storage, and a few simple steps can help keep your logs ready for those cosy evenings by the fire.

Whether you've just had a delivery of kiln-dried logs or you're stocking up for winter, make sure you store them properly.

The key is to keep your logs sheltered from rain, raised off the ground, and in a place with plenty of airflow. A little sunshine helps too!

And don't forget about moisture levels. Firewood should have a moisture content of 20% or less before you burn it.

We've put together a few handy tips to help you get the most out of your firewood and keep it in great condition throughout the colder months.

After all, there's nothing quite like getting the fire going on a chilly evening!

Are you ready to stay warm this winter? 🪵

The colder evenings are creeping in, and if you've got a log burner or open fire, now's a good time to think about your firewood supply.

But how much firewood will you actually need?

The answer depends on a few things, including how often you light your fire, the size of your stove and whether you're using it as your main source of heating or simply enjoying a cosy evening at home.

-Occasional use: If you only light your fire at weekends or on particularly chilly evenings, your firewood supply will naturally last longer.

-Regular use: If your log burner is part of your evening routine, you'll need to plan for a more consistent supply throughout the colder months.

-Daily heating: If you rely on your wood burner every day, keeping an eye on your firewood stock becomes especially important as winter progresses.

Remember, what lasts you several weeks in October might not stretch quite as far when January's colder temperatures arrive!

At Staffordshire Kindling Supplies, we believe a little preparation goes a long way towards enjoying a warm, comfortable winter.

Why Do Kiln-Dried Logs Matter?

Not all firewood is created equal! 🪵
When it comes to keeping your home warm, your logs' moisture content makes a real difference.

Kiln-dried logs are dried under controlled conditions to reduce their moisture content, helping you get more from your fire.

So, why choose kiln-dried?
-- More efficient burning – Less energy is wasted evaporating moisture, meaning more heat for your home.
-- Less smoke – Properly dried logs generally produce less smoke than wet wood when burned correctly.
-- Easier to light – Dry logs are typically easier to get burning and help maintain a consistent fire.
-- Better for your stove – Burning properly seasoned wood can help reduce soot and tar build-up compared with burning wet logs.

At Staffordshire Kindling Supplies, we believe choosing the right firewood makes all the difference.
