Irish Shell Art My name is Caitlin and I’m the creator behind Found By Fiadh. She is the inspiration for my small business.

Fiadh is my golden retriever, who loves living in the North Coast of Northern Ireland, and is the perfect beach combing companion when I’m carefully collecting the beautiful materials that create these pieces. Fiadh means ‘wild’ in Irish and is not only the perfect name for her, but also symbolises the wild nature of the North Coast and the art I am creating from it. I have always been fascinated by the sea and the beauty within it. I hope to capture the essence of the North Coast in this art and connect people to the places they love. I source these materials sustainably, collecting only what I need from a wide variety of beaches on the coastline. Whether you love Ireland, beaches or the sea as much as me, I hope you find something you love. Each piece I make is unique and I love creating this art for others to enjoy.

Thank you so much to everyone who has messaged and purchased pieces in the last few weeks! I actually didn’t have enough stock for a new Etsy drop in the end but your support has given me so much motivation for the busiest season of the year approaching 🩵

I am so excited to be heading off to Canada for the month of September 🍁 so my Etsy shop is temporary closed and all messages will be responded to at the start of October. I won’t be accepting commissions until next year but hope to have plenty of new pieces available very soon! 🐚

What a lovely day at the beautiful Titanic Hotel yesterday with Fineanddandymarket ! This was the first market I have done in years and I forgot how much preparation it takes, but it was so worth it to showcase my work and get real customer feedback 🐚

What a great way to finish a buzzing week in Belfast for the Fleadh Cheoil festival! I’ll be uploading some new pieces to Etsy very soon before taking a break for the month of September in preparation the Christmas rush. This will be my last drop until the end of the year so if you’ve had your eye on something message me for more details 🩵

I’m so excited to finally share this new piece I’ve been working on recently! I had an idea for using the large scallop shells found on a very well known County Down beach that turned into this large canvas 🩵

These shells are a waste product from the fishing industry, which is why they are found in such abundance on our local shores. They are probably the most sustainable kind of shells you can collect and as this is a huge part of my ethos I really wanted to think of a way to use them. As they are typically uniform in shape and colour, I always found it hard to incorporate them into the original style of blending different colours, shapes and textures that is known for. Each hand painted shell has been inspired by the textures and patterns I see in our beautiful seas and coastlines.

I’m so happy with how this has turned out and it’ll be taking pride of place in my studio ☺️ Although this is a completely different style and method to my usual work, I’m really keen on making a few of these to sell so keep following for more details soon! 🐚

This is what the inside of my head looks like a lot of the time 😂 overwhelmed with ideas about shells! I’ve been working hard behind the scenes for a exciting Etsy shop drop this season and have a few new pieces I can’t wait to show you all 🩵

If I’m honest, over the past year or so I’ve felt a bit creatively stuck, making the same designs on repeat for consistency. But recently it’s been so refreshing to experiment again, playing with new ideas, colours and textures.

My goal this year is to reconnect with the original ethos of ;creating truly unique and exclusive pieces that connect people to the beaches they love. Because of that, every piece takes time and there are so many unseen hours where I’ll create something, only to take it apart and start again until I’m 100% happy with it!

Thank you so much to everyone who’s been patient with me and I’m really excited to share some new work with you very soon! 🐚

After a longer break than I had intended, I’m delighted to say Fiadh and I are coming out of hibernation! I’m so happy to be back on the beaches and in my creative space again, I have a lot of fresh ideas for this year that I’m finally ready to get started on 🩵

Thank you to everyone who has patiently waited for my return and supported since the beginning 🥰 I’m planning to focus my energy slightly differently for 2026 and I’m excited for the season ahead! My time in the lovely Born & Bred has come to an end and although I’ve absolutely loved being a wholesaler in the shop, I’m excited to have more time for local markets and online sales again 🐚 I plan to release shell frames more exclusively, aiming for an Etsy shop drop every season and will be moving away from commissions for now.

My Etsy shop is back open for business and these cute cowrie earrings are proving as popular as ever 🩵
