Sometimes things don't go your way!
Due to the obstructive nature of the existing masonry flue, the 'flexible' liner was not bendy enough to get through. So a small incision was made to remove the blockage and the wall made good.
After a hard day to get that done, and a couple of well earned beers 🍻, we returned the following day to finish the installation of Charnwood Aire 5 complete with an arched closure plate to match the brick plus new slate hearth.
These very challenging jobs always result in a great feeling of accomplishment when completed.

How not to use your stove!!
Burning treated/wet timber will cause tar to form which can then solidify and block the flue. They were lucky a chimney fire hadn't occurred.
I won't name and shame but I've awarded it the worst flue I've swept this season!!

Well that's it for another year. Been to lots of amazing places and met lovely new customers.

A comprehensive list of what not to burn. My only caveat would be that pallets/batten could be used as kindling if burnt in small amounts. Much of the list should be common sense for most.

You could be risking a fine, the longevity of your stove, or even a house fire if you burn these things in your wood burner.
