What a nice start to the year with this little community project. I was thrilled to make this little sign for the parishioners of St Peter's Church in Penarth.

Read on if you like shiny and glossy! I've had fun this week making these upcycled bike themed clocks. All of these clocks have been made with bike parts (brake disc and chainrings) that were destined for the bin but have been given a new lease of life.

Deep cleaned, painted and polished these make
great gifts for cycling enthusiasts.

It's good to see the first commission of the year already hung up and looking good. The client needed a clock that complimented the look of the room interior in particular the Welsh dresser. The light shade of the oak stave works well with that of the aged dresser and has been lightly oiled to give it a subtle sheen. The clock mechanism is silent quartz movement with black gloss hands that have been matched with the wooden gloss numbers. Simplistic and rustic - nice! 🔥🔥🥰🥰

Two of these beauties sold this week!

This gorgeous clock has generated a fair bit of interest over the last the week. I will be making some smaller versions of this clock around 55cm diameter instead of 65cm. Using the more traditional wood charring technique this reclaimed soft wood piece has been worked to show off those luscious grains.

I thought I would post a video of the Whiskey Barrel hoop clock as pictures don't really do it justice.

Handcrafted from a reclaimed whisky barrel hoop which has been derusted and sprayed with a metallic copper paint. The 3 reclaimed wood sections have been shaped to give an elegant flow to this focal piece.

As you look at the middle section you will notice that the section has been charred and brushed to give a lighter more rustic touch to the time piece. Enveloping the light section metallic copper has been blended and faded towards the middle.

The gorgeous sheen from the copper changes throughout out the day giving you different looks depending on the light. Add some candle light nearby and this stunning piece will come into it's own.

Complimenting the copper are the metallic gun metal roman numerals which have been recessed to a flush finish and back boards cut away giving the numerals more prominence to the face.

The clock mechanism is a silent running quartz movement piece with hours and minutes hands powered off a single AA battery.

The clock mechanism has been seated to a near flush position by machining out the back of the stave so that it looks good from wide angles when mounted.

This lovely timepiece will arrive ready to hang.
