Our Story
More than 250 years of tradition after being founded in 1749.
Trading over four centuries.
In a world where so much is artificial, Abbeyhorn serves as a reminder of just how wonderful and appealing natural products can be. Using traditional methods, our skilled horn carvers produce a range of quality goods that are both captivating and functional.
We make use of a variety of natural materials to bring you our extensive collection of items. Our raw supplies are sourced ethically from renewable resources, often recycling a ’waste’ product from the meat industry, and as a result, preventing it from ending up in landfill. The majority of our finished products are biodegradable and/or recyclable, making a truly ecological product.
In 1991, having worked for Abbey Horn of Kendal for eleven years, Paul Cleasby bought the company. It was Paul who moved the horn works a few miles away to the village of Holme on the cusp of the Lake District and the name was changed to "Abbeyhorn of Lakeland".
Now, 26 years on, we are known as Abbeyhorn Ltd and are still situated at Holme Mills Industrial Estate in the small village of Holme.
