Halloween was our dear friend Louise’s favourite season. Louise was a hand stitcher, a doll-maker, published author, and the most genuine, beautiful person. Naturally, as a Derry girl, she came up with the most creative projects for us to sew as Halloween drew closer.
Six months without her, and we knew we had to gather together in our sewing room on Shipquay Street and design a project she’d approve of….. so the not-so-spooky witchy hat was born!!
We had great fun choosing fabric, working it all out, sewing, laughing, crying, eventually finishing our hats, and then getting giddy on Shipquay Street modelling them.
Of course we had to have a tea party with Louise’s own hand stitched doll keeping an eye on proceedings. Her exquisite eye for detail was a real talent. She taught us so much about sewing and life, and we miss her immeasurably 🥰 💔 🎃
