What’s coming up in September?

We start the month with the return of our Club Live Sessions (for paid Substack subscribers) this Thursday 3rd September at 5pm.

We’ve 4 club chats this month, including one which we’d like to invite EVERYONE to - as we celebrate the publication of the brand new book, The Flower Farmer’s Year on 10th September (also at 5pm).

We’ve also got 3 wonderful demos, which are suitable for anyone to come along to, no matter your experience. Book a place on The Dahlia Hand Tie demo, The Sweet Pea demo and The Foliage For Floristry demo - all take place online and please don’t worry if you can’t attend live as we will send you the recording instead.

Finally’ we’ve a ‘must do’ workshop for flower farmers or aspiring flower farmers. Our Pricing Cut Flowers To Sell workshop also takes place online and will help you learn how to set prices that reflect the true value of your locally grown cut flowers and foliage in what is a practical, confidence-building session.

One of the things I said I feel is incoming for floral trends in 2027 is a delight in incredibly delicate floristry - light as a feather - glass - kenzans to hold individual stems. What do you think? Have you filled in your Flowers From the Farm trend survey? These I made for fun and they feature in my most recent vlog in which I ask what you need to be a flower farmer. We are very happy to organise an instalment plan for the 3 day workshop if you’d like to pay this way (email [email protected] to arrange) and our clubbers (paid Substack subscribers) get 10% discount on any bookings.

Workshops and retreats at the farm all include all the materials you will need on each day and a fabulous farm shop lunch (the farm tour includes hot and cold drinks - no lunch sorry!)

An hour or so spent writing postcards to be sent out with copies of the all-new edition of The Flower Farmer’s Year is a treat. It’s amazing when a few years back you wrote that opening line and here it is at last, a real book intended to inspire and empower you the readers to grow amazing cut flowers and foliage, and, if you like, make a business out of those stems you grow, a business which will feed both your local ecology and your bank balance, a business with purpose, which means you are doing a good thing to earn a living. Available to preorder at all good book shops and online. I’ll put the preorder link in my stories. I can’t wait to hear what you all think of it x
