If you’re looking for somewhere different to take the dog, Applegates is worth keeping in mind.

There’s outdoor space, lake views and a more relaxed feel than a quick walk around the block.

It’s the sort of place where you can get some fresh air, have a gentle wander, and then make a bit more of the trip with a coffee or something to eat afterwards.

Bring the dog, take your time and enjoy a slower visit around the site.

A simple midweek walk can feel much better with a decent coffee at the end of it.

Weekend plans don’t always need to be complicated.

Sometimes a walk, a coffee and something proper to eat is enough.

The Milton Green Café & Deli at Applegates has plenty if you’re calling in over the weekend — from breakfast baps, pancakes and avocado toast to coffee, tea, hot chocolate, cakes and deli counter treats.

You can make it a quick stop, or take your time with a walk around the lake before or after.

It’s a simple way to get out for a bit without needing to plan a full day.

If you haven’t had a walk around Applegates for a while, October is a lovely time to do it.

The site has more to it than just the shops. There are paths to wander, open space, trees, lake views and plenty of fresh air if you just want somewhere peaceful to stretch your legs.

It’s a nice spot for a slower visit — especially if you’re walking the dog, meeting someone for coffee, or just fancy getting out for half an hour without making a big plan of it.

After your walk, you can call into the Farm Shop, Café & Deli for a drink or something to eat, or have a look around the businesses while you’re here.

A simple autumn visit, but sometimes that’s exactly what you need.
