I’m Mark, the maker behind Peach Tree Crafting.

Give me a workshop, a Dremel and a few bits of wood, and I’ll happily lose hours making something.

From woodworking and upcycling to tool tips, experiments and the occasional project that doesn’t quite go to plan, there’s always something happening in my workshop.

This weekend my niece spotted a little wooden house decoration and asked if I could make her one. Of course I said yes! 😊

The one she’d seen was mass-produced, and made in China, so I took the idea and put my own spin on it.

Like most woodworkers, I’ve got a treasure trove of scraps and offcuts tucked away “just in case”. Turns out this was the case I’d been saving them for. 😂

A bit of sawing, routing, laser etching, painting and gluing later, and here we are.

I enjoyed making it so much that I’ve already cut more wood to size for a few neighbours. Looks like there is a new Street on the block, Peach Street. 🏡

special Hobbit Day edition of Workshop News.
We begin with an official complaint from Gandalf the Grey regarding the apparently reckless use of the phrase “good morning”.
Elsewhere, a local maker entered his workshop to complete one simple job and has so far reorganised two drawers, sharpened a pencil, made tea and watched seventeen videos about it.
The actual job remains untouched.
And we finish with a little Thorin wisdom that feels rather appropriate.

In financial news, a maker has successfully avoided a £30 purchase by spending £42 on materials and most of Saturday making it himself.
The finished item is almost identical.
The official defence remains: "I made this one."
Economists have declined to comment.
