Hi, I’m Dymphna — the face behind Dymphna Jane , my tiny little wool shop and haberdashery in Higher Wheelton, Lancashire.
And when I say tiny… I really do mean tiny. This definitely isn’t one of those huge warehouse-style craft stores where you need a map and hiking boots to get round it. It’s small, cosy, friendly, and absolutely packed to the rafters with crafty goodness.
Despite the size, I somehow seem to have squeezed in just about everything you could possibly need — yarn, crochet hooks, knitting needles, sewing threads, buttons, scissors, patterns, haberdashery bits, crafty tools, and all those little things you only realise you need halfway through a project at 10pm.
I was raised in Shetland and learnt to knit almost as soon as I could walk, so crafting has always been part of everyday life for me. I love helping people find the right yarn, match colours properly, solve project problems, or just have a good chat about what they’re making.
The shop is very much the sort of place where people pop in “just for one thing” and stay for a natter. There’s usually crochet on the counter, wool being unpacked somewhere, and a lot of enabling going on.
Alongside the shop, I also run Craft Shedquarters with Lisa of Lambtastic Lamb , where we host knitting and crochet workshops, crafty socials, and beginner sessions. We’re huge believers that crafting should feel welcoming, relaxed and fun — whether you’ve been crafting for years or you’re picking up a crochet hook or knitting needles for the very first time.
So if you fancy a browse, a squish of some beautiful yarn, or just a friendly little independent craft shop that feels a bit like stepping into someone’s crafty front room, come and say hello.
