ver 100 years old. Surface printing creates a beautiful hand painted effect and there are only a handful of the machines left in the world. The technique was pioneered in 1838 in Lancashire, just a few miles away from the current factory. Sustainability and environmental responsibility are at the heart of 1838 production. Only water-based, non-toxic inks are used, which are environmentally safe and free from VOCs. Designs are printed on responsibly sourced (FSC certified), recyclable non woven bases, that are paste the wall and easy to hang.
