I spent another 2 days at the National Memorial Arboretum last week helping to finish the installation of the magnificent Threads of Remembrance mosaic. So grateful to have had the opportunity to be a small part of this extraordinary project and overwhelmed with the scale and magnificence of the finished mosaic.

My next road trip into the mosaic kingdom was to the wonderful annual exhibition by the Northern group of BAMM ~Brutish assoc. of modern mosaic. It’s at the glorious RHS gardens of Harlow Carr so even more of an incentive to visit.

Just a few snaps of hundreds of mosaics, well worth a days visit if you can get to Harrogate and it runs to 17th May.

Highlights for me~ that whippet (oh that whippet 🤩) and the extraordinary work of Lisa-Marie Newman (which defies description and photography).

A belated update on my trip to the National Memorial Arboretum ~it was incredible!
I spent 4 days here helping put together the gigantic mosaic installation and I came home buzzing. The individual contributions~275 from around the world, the scale of the assembly, the guidance of Coraline Turpie, Tamara Froud & LLynda Waugh and the wonderful teamwork and companionship of an ever changing group of mosaicists was just phenomenal.

I was back with my tribe.

I can’t wait to see the final installation which will be in the Chapel near the main entrance and cafes.

My father was a fisherman. He was a civil servant in his working life but in his heart and in his soul he was a fisherman.
My happiest memories of my Dad were fishing with him in his little boat in Cornwall.

This is my contribution for an incredibly special project at the National Memorial Arboretum in conjunction with British association of Modern Mosaic. It will be a large scale mosaic installation entitled “Threads of Remembrance” and we were invited to contribute a small mosaic with our story of personal remembrance.

I’m here working with lots of other volunteers in Staffordshire this week helping to put it together~some 275 mosaics have been received and it is going to be phenomenal.

I’ll post photos and more details once they are officially circulated and will let you know once it’s installed in the chapel of remembrance. It will certainly be worth a visit and will of course this very special place.
