🇬🇧 ROYAL TANK REGIMENT — FEAR NAUGHT 🇬🇧
Another update to my badge and insignia range, this time for the Royal Tank Regiment.
The biggest improvement is to the laurels. I’ve refined the leaf shapes and smoothed the edges to give the wreath a cleaner, sharper finish. The crowns have also had some attention, including their individual pearls and finer details.
At the centre is the distinctive First World War tank, a reminder of where the regiment’s story began. British tanks first went into action at Flers-Courcelette on the Somme on 15 September 1916, with those early tank crews laying the foundations of today’s RTR.
The laurel wreath is a traditional symbol of victory and honour, while the scroll carries the words generations of tank soldiers have worn with pride: FEAR NAUGHT — “fear nothing”.
The familiar badge dates from 1923, when the Tank Corps became the Royal Tank Corps and formally adopted the motto.
These updated designs feature both crown versions: the Tudor-style King’s Crown chosen by Charles III and the St Edward’s-style Queen’s Crown familiar from Elizabeth II’s reign.
✅ Both full-colour versions have already received MOD pre-approval.
📩 Artwork for the silver versions was submitted to the MOD tonight.
If you’ve worn this badge, you’ll have your own memories attached to it. That’s why I put so much care into getting those familiar features right.
Which would you choose for your wall — King’s or Queen’s Crown, in full colour or silver?
