Lorry is being a sweetheart at work today 🤣🌛

Little reminder that next weekend (12-13th September, 10am - 3pm) we will be opening our private furniture barn to the public for the first time for a little end of summer sale!

Exciting news…we will be having a big end of the season furniture sale in a few weeks!

For the first time we’d be opening our furniture barn to the public (situated just round the corner from the Shoulder) for 2 days only!

Unfortunately, due to our coffee machine being broken and it being a bank holiday, we won’t be able to serve coffee today. 😢

We’re so sorry for the inconvenience! We’ll still be here serving all your favourite teas, cakes and breakfasts & lunches, treats as usual. 🫖🍰

✨ Open bank holiday Monday! ✨

What a fun week this has been! Mini stock buying adventures and then another lovely Friday working in the shop seeing our lovely customers (and Lorry 🐶🐾)!

We are open all weekend and bank holiday Monday as usual so if you’ve been trying to decide what to do this weekend….we’ve got you covered - dog friendly cafe next door, public footpath to the nature reserve starting in our car park, children’s play area, b**r garden by the river and three floors of antiques & vintage in a haunted 750 year old building! 👻🥰

This lovely engraving is dated from 1760 and is actually on rag paper with period hand colouring.

It is called “Le Mouton Favori” which means the favourite lamb.

It was printed in Rene Gallards workshop in Paris. Under the title it says “In Paris, at the author’s shop on Rue st. Jacques (above the Jacobins, between a wigmaker and a seamstress.)”

This scene is interesting because it is often credited as after Boucher but the louvre collections note that Gallard engraved this specific scene after a pastoral scene by Charles Eisen in 1755.
