Let me give you an insight as to why resin pieces can cost so much. ⬇️
For example, how long do you think the flower arch I posted the other day took me from start to finish? 🤔
Would you be surprised if I told you that this took around 6 weeks?
All of the flowers you see in this piece have been cut and dried in silica sand for nearly 4 weeks. They have to be completely dry otherwise they will rot inside the resin.
Then I have to do multiple layers, which take at least 1 whole day in between each to dry. This piece was around 3 layers.
Once the final layer is poured, then I have to wait around 3 days to be able to take it out of the mould.
Then it is sanded down starting at 80 grit working all the way through the grits up to 1200 grit.
Then it is flood coated, this takes at least another day to harden.
Then it is ready! 🎉
I only use the very best materials in my pieces, which come at a cost. Then there is the time, which if I paid myself hourly, no one would buy anything! Not only does it take me weeks to create something, that's also not taking into account the time taking to reply to emails, take progress photos/videos and even just to research new pieces. There is consumables such as PPE, gloves, elctricity, sanding pads, mixing cups, mixing sticks, liquid latex, silica sand, the mould itself and packaging. There is so much that is unaccounted for and they are just costs I swallow up myself and do not pass that cost onto the customer.
So there you have it, that is why resin pieces cost what they cost! Luckily, I do this completely for the love of creating, if I was doing this to make money, my pieces would be a lot more expensive! ❤️
