Who doesn't love drop swirls?🥰

For me I think it's one of the techniques with the biggest visual impact!😍

The downside is if you want uniformity, this is not the way to go - each bar will be completely unique!🤪

I've used drop swirls many times, as you can see my Frost Fairie soap shows a drop swirl at thin trace, whilst the halloween soap was at a VERY thick consitency.😅

Although some may argue the halloween soap is not a true drop swirl I think it shows how forgiving this technique can be - allowing you to not overthink and just have fun creating!🎨

My motto has always been that you can never have too much glitter!🤩

But when we're talking about soap - that glitter should always be 💯 biodegradable!

Scroll to see a few examples of my soaps that have been made even more fabulous with the addition of glitter🌟

My top tip is to use chunky glitter as fine glitter either disappears or just looks a bit odd... What's your top glitter tip?👇

Embeds come in all shapes and sizes, they can be on or in your soap.

Two examples of embeds in my soap are my Colasaurus and cherry blossom soap

🦖Colasaurus - with individual mini dinosaur embeds. These embeds can’t always be seen when first cut but then the slowly emerge as you use the soap, almost like an archaeological dig!
There are also dinosaur embeds on top of the soap, you can never have too many dinosaurs.

💮Cherry Blossom – This soap used a column moulded embed running straight though the entire soap, meaning each slice is guaranteed to have a flowery center. I painted the outside of the embed with extra mica to add a depth to each petal – although it doesn’t show through much in the final soap.

A mica line is pretty self explanatory but I personally think it can add a certain level of fanciness to a soap.🧐

My first mica line soap was this Lemon sherbet inspired bar🍋, the mica lines are a little thick the after use the bar would break into pieces along the mica lines.
I still think it was a good way to interpret the powdered sugar on a sherbet lemon sweet🍬

The second example is my original blue geode soap,💎 with bronze mica lines, really showing how this technique can add a bit of class to any soap.
Using a contrasting colour can enhance the soaps beauty 😍and its a relatively easy technique to try out – I recommend using a mini sieve to distribute the mica evenly.

There are many soap pouring techniques I have tried, layers is often thought to be the easiest… until you try it out!😅

Unless you have the patience to wait for each layer to set (which I don’t), and then trust that the layers will stick together, layers can be tricky!🤔

My first ever soap was a drumstick 🍬inspired two layer pour, the layers stayed separate because I over-mixed the batter made it SUPER thick.😁

Another of my layer soaps is the rainbow soap🌈, I wish I had waited for each layer to set ⏰– that way my lines would have been smooth and sharp… instead of lumpy and ‘informal’ 🏳️‍🌈

What do you think of these soap flowers? 💐

Overall I'm pretty happy with this as my first attempt🥰

Made with individual soap petals they did take quite a bit of time! ⏳

Perfect gift for mother's Day, valentine's Day or any special occasion🎂

I'm going to be practicing these and possibly expanding my range if I find a more time efficient way of making them! 😅
Any hints are appreciated 🙏

Temporary storage solution whilst moving house - not ideal but hopefully wont be this way for long!😅🏠
It got me thinking maybe this is a good time to upgrade my soap storage🤔🤔

I'm genuinely interested in what you guys do!💡

How do you guys store your soaps?
Do you package after 6 weeks or leave curing until sold?
Any soap storage 'hacks' you wish you knew sooner?

Let me know in the comments!👇👇

Looking back at my Halloween soap and remembering the serious colour shift that happened! 😱

When I first demoulded this soap I was a little concerned about the colour but it turned more purple during curing💜
Somme stayed a little grey-purple but I think still looked good👍

Can anyone advise what causes this? And are some colours more prone than others?🤔

I recently discovered another use for beeswax!🐝

Did you know it can be used to grow mushrooms?🍄

1. Purchase some mushroom dowels online
2. Drill holes in freshly cut logs, insert the dowels
3. Cover the holes with beeswax to protect the spores
4. Wait... it can take a year or two...
5. Enjoy your homegrown mushrooms!

I hope to have an update in future on my Mushroom Kingdom👸🏼

Let me know the weirdest thing you (purposefully) grow in the garden👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻
