🍹Retro revival 🍹Well this was a whole lot of fun to update. I haven’t done a tape design for a while and I’ve got to say it’s very pleasing when you finally remove the tape. I do love a mid century piece and for the most part I usually refinish the wood and sell them on but these drawers needed some damaged veneer removing so I got to create a funky painted design for them. The base colour is the beautiful inky cambridge blue by fusion mineral paint. I did manage to show some of the wood in the striped design with one yellow stripe to complete the retro design. All finished with some bright yellow ceramic handles. What do you think? Fan of the retro look? These ones are for sale in my Etsy shop, link in bio. 💖 Raspberry rocks 💖 A rather bright makeover for this one. I’ve wanted to update a cabinet with reeded glass for ages and this oak Jaycee cabinet seems the perfect piece. The leaded glass went and new glamorous glass fitting by a local glazier. I mixed a custom mix pink using peony and wi******er by fusion mineral paint and daa dah all bright and waiting for new home. ✨Devine duo. ✨Always a joy to find a matching pair of these Harris lebus drawers. They make such gorgeous oversized bedside tables. I thought I’d go neutral on these with a custom mix stone colour using fusion mineral paint. Perfect for a romantic bedroom decor. The top drawer and legs I refinished the wood in a light oak shade to compliment the paint colour. On the top drawer I used an art nouveau design stencil in the stone shade with a coat of champagne gold over the top for an extra touch of ooo la la. Is it Spring yet?!?! I’m manifesting the brighter days by painting in light and bright shades. This Ercol sideboard was not looking it best when I got it. After stripping off the finish for what seems like an eternity I painted the first layer in a custom mix rose pink. Then time for the green paint which is Acadia pear by fusion mineral paint. I lightly distressed to reveal some of the pink and dry brushed an extra bit of pink over the top for good measure. The top was too beautiful to paint so I sanded and stained the elm to bright it back to life. The inside was treated to some funky floral paper in the drawers and dah daa all done. ✨Time to shine✨. Sorry for the lack of online presence. I’ve struggled to get into regular posts after the summer, very lazy! I’ve got a few bits to share so here’s the first. This large set of Victorian drawers took a while to update as they needed many repairs before I could start painting them. The top was cracked, the drawers stoppers all needed replacing and new feet were also needed. Due to the age and condition of the piece I knew I needed a design that would compliment its age rather than highlight the flaws so I decided to go dark and moody with a touch of sparkle, as you do! I started with a layer of coal black by fusion mineral paint, always a great base. I then mixed a custom mix green paint wash diluted 50% paint 50% water. I applied a coat of the wash and then removed any excess with a cloth. Once dried I sanded the edges to give a slight distressed look and applied the final layer of paint wash. I used a thinned out wash of frenchic in cool copper. I love the extra depth the fine coat of metallic gives, it just adds a little extra. Perfect time of year for a little sparkle. 🍃🍃Little leafy lebus. 🍃🍃
I combined my 3 my favourites on this one. Green, gold and botanical design. This little set of Harris Lebus drawers needed a makeover as had been living in a garage, like so much vintage furniture. The handles were rusty, the veneer was peeling but I knew as soon as I saw them had potential due to those lovely curves and cute proportions.

After a good clean I removed all the peeling veneer and sanded away the old finish. To paint I used Fusion mineral paint in a custom mix colour, I call it minty sage. I ummed and aahed about whether to leave plain but as is so often the case though I’d add a little something. I had some pieces of the beautiful gold foil re-design by prima transfer left so with a little careful placement added to the top drawer. After removing the rust from the handles I applied a gold and bronze wax to brighten them up. The drawers are lined with a floral paper and just like that all done and wanting a new home. ✨Dazzling Damask ✨ To say this set of drawers needed a little TLC would be an understatement. They were absolutely battered and in all honesty I felt a little sorry for them. These are my favorite type of upcycle as with a little effort and some design inspiration you really can completely transform an item. I had a vision which in all honesty often doesn’t reflect the end item completely accurately but on this occasion it really did.
After repairing all the d***s and chunks of wood missing I filled the many holes I cracked on with the sanding. As the varnish finish was very uneven it meant full removal of all the finish to get a nice even paintable surface. I started with a vibrant green made up of pressed fern and Chestler by fusion mineral paint and then I applied a layer of cast iron which is a deep dark charcoal shade. I lightly sanded back to the green beneath to give an aged appearance. Now the fun part I used this beautiful damask stencil by firstly I used copper metallic paint and then highlighted the design with a touch of green metallic paint. I wanted to give an aged copper look and was pretty pleased with the effect, what do you think? The original handles were always gorgeous and just needed a good clean and then a touch of gold and copper wax to make them shine again. And just like that all done. You may have noticed I’m quite fond of Harris Lebus furniture. I’m always delighted when I find some nice pieces to buy. These 2 sets of drawers are not quite identical but very similar and would make a great bedroom set. I decided to go with black on these and as I always went to my favorite coal black by Fusion mineral paint. The top drawer and legs I kept as wood but re-stained in a light oak shade. The piece de resistance has got to be the gold foil fern and foliage transfer by re-design with prima. It’s like a little spark of magic once you apply and reveal the pattern it leaves behind. All finished with a dark base fern lining in all the drawers and ready for a new home.

A classic update for these vintage drawers. Now available in my Etsy store, link in bio.
I actually finished a few weeks ago and thought I’d already posted but haven’t 🤦🏼‍♀️ Busy few weeks. Updated using coal black by fusion mineral paint. the wood I applied a paint wash to lighten. The drawers are lined with a gorgeous dark foliage print.
