Why I charge what I do to make your memory bear ….
Time- a memory bear can take 6-8 hours to make and it starts before I even cut into the fabric. I plan what piece will look good, pattern matching, thread matching and embroidery placement
Essentials- they vary from woven interfacing to line every piece of fabric to stabiliser and topper for embroidery, threads for embroidery and sewing, clips for keeping fabrics together, scissors, pinking shears, rotary cutter and blades , the list is endless
Creativity- a lot of times you ask me to do what I think is best, that’s a big challenge as I don’t know your style but it’s a challenge I love to do, even time to take pictures along the way and send to you takes a little time ( any advice on how to improve my photography is always accepted!!)
I work full time so this is always in my spare time on my off days or before a late shift.
Package and posting- each bear is lovingly wrapped in a see through film, I know of one bear who lives on the side in their wrapping as it’s so precious to them 😍 admired from afar,
I know every individual bear means so much to their family member and this is why I do this
Then I have to sort postage, I always use Royal Mail as it also includes tracking and insurance should the worst ever happen and your item goes on a different journey( touch wood, never happened yet)
Accounts- something I’m not good at!! I pax tax on what I make as I already have an income, it’s mainly why I price so low at £50 per bear but this will have to change soon as the world increases its prices around me.
I am one of the lower costing makers, some makers charge more and their work is incredible, I am merely a paramedic who is hoping she puts a little something back to family members and I am honoured to say I have made items for people I have dealt with in my day job, bringing comfort to their loved ones and they chose me purely by luck as I never advertise my bears at work
Thank you for choosing me and I hope your item brings you some comfort ❤️❤️
