Jo's Objects of Desire

Jo's Objects of Desire I buy & sell personally sourced, decorative art objects. These quirky items are mainly from the 20th These quirky objects reflect my own creativity & aesthetics.

My love of the Decorative Arts has led me to the buying & selling of unusual items - Jo's Objects of Desire. I have been working as a professional fine artist for 25 years, and now my curiosity has taken me to a new world. All the objects are personally sourced by me, and are an eclectic mix, primarily from the 20th Century. I am passionate that the objects we place in our personal space, be that

a room, a house or a garden, are objects of desire. My philosophy to living is influenced by such people as -
William Morris (1834 -1896):
"Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful." Jim Ede (1895 - 1990):
"the place (his home, Kettles Yard) is only alive when used."

DAMON & JO IN CONVERSATION

This conversation was the result of us being asked by to consider “what would help American buyers buy from dealers in England.” Thais & Richard are lovely dealers based in the U.S. and frequently buy in England.

We filmed the conversation in the delightful where we both have stands.

We both will shortly be selling at fairs, & overseas dealers are frequent buyers, so this was an interesting topic to discuss.

Damon will be Westpoint, Exeter on the 6th & 7th June, & I will be 15th & 16th May Burton Court, Leominister.

We hope you enjoy our ‘In Conversation’.

Hope

Please don’t think this post is about boasting, I’m putting it out there as a post about HOPE.

On Tuesday, my duty day my good friend popped in to see me, & talking in my space we had one of those delicious wide ranging & engaging discussions. Hope was something we touched on. She then did a post about it, with a wonderful poem by Emily Dickinson.

Twenty weeks ago The Incident with The Puppy happened. It has had a profound effect upon me. My hope has been to go back to swimming, my happy place. First was negotiating the changing room to the pool. Then walking up & down in the pool. Then backwards & sideways. Then a sort of breaststroke.

I was very nervous as I stood in the pool yesterday, would I be able to do it? Dear reader I did! This is the record of the face of a very happy woman, who hoped one day to do the front crawl again, & today she did!

Never give up hope.

A hug, is a hug. I’m a giver, & a receiver of hugs in equal measure. For me, they are are essential part of life.
