Thank you ❤️

Now that we’re finally home after such an emotional and incredibly difficult day, I just wanted to take a moment to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported us today, and throughout this heartbreaking time.

We have been absolutely blown away by all the love, kindness, messages, flowers, cards, hugs and support. It has meant more to us than we could ever put into words. Knowing how many people loved and cared about Dad has been such a comfort.

I also want to say how incredibly proud I am of my sister Cassie and myself. Today we stood together and delivered Dad’s service ourselves, without a celebrant, and somehow we managed to hold it together and do him proud. It was one of the hardest things we’ve ever had to do, but I’m so proud that we were able to stand there together, tell his story and give Dad the farewell he deserved. ❤️

Cassie, I honestly couldn’t have done it without you. Thank you for being by my side every step of the way. We did it together. ❤️

And to every single person who has supported us, whether you were there today, sent a message, shared a memory, brought flowers, gave us a hug or simply thought of us — thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Dad was so loved, and today really showed us just how much.

We’re completely exhausted now and ready for some rest, but before we go to bed, we just wanted to say thank you. ❤️ Apologies if we haven't got back to your messages or phone calls as you can imagine we are very overwhelmed and still trying to process what has happened.

For Nigel ❤️

We have been completely overwhelmed by all the lovely messages and offers of support since we lost Nigel. Thank you all, it really has meant so much to us. Our original post was seen by a crazy 125,000 people, which still feels completely unreal. ❤️

Ahead of the funeral this coming Monday, we wanted to share Nigel’s tribute page, where you can leave a message or tribute. We’ll also have a memory book at the wake for anyone who would like to write something and some time for anyone who would like to share their favourite stories about Nigel.

Nigel’s wish was that, rather than sending flowers for his funeral, anyone wanting to give something in his memory make a donation to Mountbatten Hospice.🌻

In the last few years of his life, Nigel had an enormous amount of support from Mountbatten. He always spoke about how kind and supportive all the staff were, and how welcome and accepted he felt there. He wanted to give something back so other Island families could have that same support.

So many of us on the Island know just how important Mountbatten is and around two-thirds of its running costs come from donations!

Nigel was such a big part of the Island community, and we’ve been blown away by just how many people our last post reached. If some of that support could now go towards a place that meant so much to him, we know he would have been incredibly pleased.

😇 Dad's Funeral Update 😇

DATE - Monday the 24th of August

Everyone is welcome and as Dad said please wear something comfortable. Let's give him the send off he deserves.

The wake will be held at the pinnacle lounge in Cowes after the service at the Crematorium.

We will be putting a tea and cake spread in memory of dads favourite food. There will be a few savory options. But please eat before or after if you feel it is necessary.

We will also be open to anyone that wants to share stories, there will be time for this at the wake.

I'm writing this with a lump in my throat. I am still in shock and disbelief 😭

Dad's funeral service will be held on Monday 24th August at 12:45pm at the crematorium.

Everyone is welcome but I would really appreciate it if you could leave a comment on this post so we can have a rough idea of numbers.

As Dad requested, please wear something comfortable.

As the sad news ripples through Cowes I would just like to confirm we are utterly heartbroken that Dad has sadly passed away. As you may know dad has been ill but this was very sudden and unexpected. The only thing which brings me a bit of comfort is that we were able to get there in time for his final moments. The last 48 hours have been such a mix of emotions. Im sorry as a family if we haven't got back to your messages but we all need time to process this... RIP Dad 💞💔💞
