Newtownbreda installation. Open fire conversion. Interesting job working around this Original art deco brick fireplace, finding a stove thats flue was low enough to rear flue it and with the raised front lip around the hearth so the door wouldn’t hit on it when opened, it was tight around 10mm at the top of the rear flue and 5mm between the bottom corner of the door and top edge of the raised Hearth. With out touching the fireplace, was a goal on its own, no more cold drafts, freezing living room. This compact 5kw multi fuel stove does pack a punch with its heat output. Duraflue flexi liner kit to finish it off. Flue and Ducting Ltd

😳😳😳😫completely mental ! What someone calls a stove installation, this was a shocker ! A hearth has to be a min of 300mm in front of the stove, incase hot ash falls out onto the wooden floor, which happen here often, the whole 8 metres of flexi was resting on the stove spigot, which you can see was sagging and nearly out of the stove spigot, no fixings to hold it in. A 90 degree bend is 100% illegal to use on a solid fuel stove. As it can fill with soot, again as you can see in the photo, it’s about 90% full closing the flue of completely, causing carbon monoxide to leak into the room, no co alarm to warn you if it does, the top of the flexi was left in a complete hack which was starting to rot, open rain cap used at the top, which means it’s not sealed and causes soot and rain to come back down the chimney. The stove kept moving forward causing it to hang of the edge of the hearth. You think you have seen them all, then a new botch job appears. Remember, do your research before you let anyone into your home and leave a death trap like this. I’ve been fitting stoves 18 years now, and continue to do all my own installations to make sure every job is done professionally, safe and finished to the highest standard.

We are fully into the winter season now, make sure you have your stove or open fire serviced and swept, having a stoves that not been serviced, brick broken, ropes falling apart and flexi liner now cleaned, lowers the efficient and performance of your stove, plus leaving a layer of hard soot on your liner that beds in and can’t be removed, shortening the life span of your flexible liner. Contact Jake to get stove serviced.
