There’s a story behind these photos- Last year not long after opening the shop my father died. He’d been self-employed all his life; a true entrepreneur, versatile, driven and feisty in character he showed us how lift ourselves up when to others all would seem lost so far from fall apart my son’s and their families came back to the nest to give strength, support and solidarity in this difficult time.
It was suggested that we all make a pot and do something positive to remember him by. Now a year later they have all been fired by my good friend and extremely talented ceramicist they have all survived and as intended brought joy and light.
I can’t wait for the next session where we all come together again to glaze and decorate - What a wonderful way to remember my Dad by! Thank you so much to Ginny, my family and friends that have stood by.
No longer grieving for a life but celebrating the generations, making memories, enjoying our time.
Love you all my special ones ❤️

Self-employment- Not just sitting in a shop, I’m the buyer, renovator, painter, decorator, designer, marketer, cleaner, bookkeeper - the list keeps going so it’s no wonder it doesn’t all get done BUT I have finally got a website up - basic but there to be added to. Being the current custodian to my fathers house Sunday morning I woke up in my chosen bedroom and thought “That’s it I can’t wake up to this anymore” Magnolia is not a colour for me I find it soul sapping, bland and predictable. I’d had in mind pale calming blue but me being me I mixed a colour with left over paints, took out the modern furniture and got to work. By the evening with no extra money spent, a calm and relaxed room for Rosie, Blu and I to lay our heads at the end of a busy day. Everything other than the wardrobe, has been restored, painted and bought over time by me holding the time and memory of everyone I bought them from, a connection to interactions, the smiles, the history. A room does not have to be perfect just a place of sanctuary, it can be house bought, rented or temporary but by making small efforts if becomes home.

Colour and texture…..I find it hard to believe that people think of antique shops as being dull and boring when if you like me, enjoy the smells, texture, and colour that evoke such feelings of safety and good memories. You’ll notice the smoothest of surfaces have undulations and pattern beneath their shine so next time you’re in a shop like mine don’t feel the need to rush but take in the scene, glide your hands along the grains, and fabrics, touch the vase or candle stick with your face and lips - sit, smell, listen and look then in time you’ll breathe with ease and see the true wonder through your childhood mind and simply be.

Today didn’t start too well with a major diversion from home to Hay but I made it in anyway just to sort out the clothes and then a phone call from my supplier who had THE MOST bright, beautiful rugs and cushions I had to resist buying the whole van then and there from 40x40 cushion cover to rugs 8x10’ already adding to my ever growing range of homeware 😄
