🎉🎉 6 years today 🎉🎉
Today marks 6 years since Cumbernauld Cycles was created 😃
It was a crazy time of uncertainty for many during lockdown. Like most I was at a loose end during furlough and wanted to create a way to fill my days using the years of experience I had as a bike mechanic.
Over night you guys trusted me with your bikes, be it repairs, service or building new bikes.
I remember the madness of sanitising bikes before working on them and after, working in people's gardens wearing a face mask and how Mrs Cumbernauld Cycles lost her sanity over a tidy garden as it quickly became swamped with bikes.
This then became a full time job very quicly and we ended up with our own store, crazy!
We made the decision to close the shop as truthfully, I didnt like the pressure of having to rely on bikes as my soul income, knowing the shop rent and mortgage payments relied on bikes was scary. Mostly because as many of you will know our aims to keep cycling affordable and this doesn't make a great buisness model 😬
We now have a happy balance of being employed during the day and working on your bikes into the evenings and weekends. Making our goal possible of keeping cycling affordable.
Once again thanks to everyone of you, from those who have used our services, shared our posts and those who recommend us to friends and family.
We really do appreciate you being part of this crazy dream!
