From local collections to furniture coming in from across the country.

We’ve recently had a beautiful nursing chair from Long Newton, between Stockton and Darlington, bar stools sent to Nottingham, a pair of Peel chairs to Brighton, and we’ve just collected a chair and sofa from Middleton near Leyburn.

It’s a good example of just how far BJ Upholstery’s work reaches.

For our more local customers, we can arrange to collect your furniture ourselves. For customers further afield, we can help you arrange suitable shipping, or you can arrange for your furniture to be sent directly to us.

📩 Please contact us and get a quote before arranging to send any furniture. We’ll need to discuss the work with you and book your furniture in before it arrives. 📦👍

Whether you’re just around the corner or further afield, we’re happy to discuss your upholstery, restoration or reupholstery project.

We cover a wide area across the North East, North Yorkshire and beyond. You can see more about the areas we cover, including how we handle collections and deliveries, on our Areas We Cover page:

Uplift, Repair, and Return Service.

We offer a full sofa repair service, from replacing foam and cushions to repairing springs, frames and other structural components.

Our Uplift & Repair Service allows us to bring your furniture into our workshop, carry out the necessary repairs and return it to you fully restored. This can often provide a more cost-effective long-term solution than simply replacing individual components or considering a new sofa.

Whether you have a broken frame, damaged springs, tired cushions or a sofa that simply needs some attention, we can assess the furniture and advise you on the best approach.

Find out more about our Uplift, Repair, and Return Service on our website, and get in touch if you’d like us to provide an estimate.

Tropical Tub Chair – A Classic Reupholstered

We’ve recently completed the reupholstery of this beautiful Tropical Tub Chair for one of our repeat customers.

Although it’s difficult to date the chair precisely, we estimate it dates from around the 1920s. It’s a wonderfully solid and substantial piece of furniture, complete with Shepherd casters – a lovely indication of the quality of furniture from this period.

The chair features a graceful arched back and a classic tub-chair shape. While it doesn’t have buttoning to the backrest today, it may originally have been designed with a buttoned back.

Our customer supplied the fabric, and what a choice it was! A bold, striking printed design on what appears to be a heavy cotton-blend fabric with a loose weave. It’s certainly a unique fabric that gives this classic chair a completely new character while retaining its original charm.

Another beautiful piece restored and reupholstered by our team – giving a much-loved chair a new lease of life.
