Over the last few weeks, we’ve been waiting for an inspection from Trading Standards at our home, which is registered as our manufacturing address since we make all of our own products.
I won’t lie—it’s been stressful waiting for it. The inspection was rescheduled twice, and if you know me, you’ll know I worry about absolutely everything!
Well… it’s finally been done, and the feedback was more than I could ever have hoped for.
They randomly selected 20 items for inspection, along with an additional selection of desk minis. They explained that they try their best to fidget with, pull at, and break items as part of their testing process. One comment that really made me smile was:
“This is more than impressive. We’ve been to others where products broke with the smallest of tugs.”
I think I finally breathed properly after hearing that!
They checked all the paperwork for each item and then randomly selected one of our files from the shelves (we have over 30 files!) before checking documents from that too. Absolutely nothing was left unchecked.
We showed them the system we use to manage our paperwork, including both physical and digital records. They were genuinely impressed that everything is documented so thoroughly. Quality has always been incredibly important to us, and we never cut corners to make things quicker. We use a high infill on our prints to ensure every item we produce is of an excellent standard.
They asked what felt like a million questions, and we were able to answer not only about our products, but also about legislation, toy safety testing, commercial licences, and much more.
We even got to show them our testing equipment. They were blown away by the extent of the testing we carry out (I won’t apologise for being EXTRA 😂) and all the gadgets we use to complete the rigorous testing process. Every item and batch has to be tested and documented, which is incredibly time-consuming, but it’s something we take very seriously.
I did ask where our stars were, but apparently they don’t give those out! 😆
Still, hearing them say they were blown away by not only the quality of our products but also by how much we genuinely have customers and children in mind was all the recognition I needed.
I’m incredibly relieved that it’s over, but I’m also so happy to have confirmation of something I’ve always known: all the hard work, attention to detail, and commitment to quality really do matter.
So please share share share. Cause this news is just amazing! Super proud moments where we can truly says, we are UKCA, we are checked and we are very EXTRA 🫣😂
Today, I’m feeling very proud of us.
