Happy Dinosaur Day! A day to celebrate our fantastic fossilised friends! Did you know...

🦖 Dinosaurs are a group of reptiles that lived on Earth for a period spanning 245 million years. When the T-Rex roamed the Earth, well-known dinosaurs such as the Stegosaurus and Brontosaurus were already fossils beneath its feet!

🦕 Just like our dinosaur mosaic kits, dinosaurs are thought to have been extremely colourful, like the Sinosauropteryx, which is thought by experts to have had an orange-and-white striped tail!

🐲 Not all dinosaurs were supersized! The Microraptor was a tiny carnivore which was small enough to hold in an adult’s hands. (Fun bonus fact... it also had flight feathers on both its front and rear legs, which would help it to glide from branch to branch!)

🦕 Dinosaurs really did dominate the world, fossils have been found on all 7 continents!

🦖 There are over 700 known extinct species of dinosaur with new species being discovered on average once every week!

Let’s talk needle-felting mats!

You may have noticed that our kits have the option to come with or without needle-felting mats. This is because if you’re experienced with needle-felting you may well already have one, if you’re new to needle-felting, here’s why you’ll need one!

With the environment in mind, our needle-felting mats are made with 100% cotton with a filling of buckwheat hulls, which makes it not only great to work with but also fully biodegradable.

It’s World Bee Day! Many of our kits are inspired by the natural world around us, including these incredibly industrious creatures!

So what is all the buzz about?! Here are 5 fascinating facts about our fuzzy friends!

🐝There are over 250 species of bee in the UK, including 24 species of bumblebee!

🐝Almost 90% of wild plants and 75% of leading global crops depend on animal pollination from creatures such as bees.

🐝Bees actually have 4 wings! Their two wings each side hook together to make a larger pair when flying!

🐝Honeybees have a dance move called the ‘waggle-dance’ – a clever way of communicating with others to share with their nestmates where the best source of food is!

🐝Bees have excellent navigational skills and use the position of the sun to help them know where they are and where to get back to!

Make a penguin with me for World Penguin Day!

From the little blue penguins of New Zealand to the Emperor Penguins of Antarctica, there are 18 species in the penguin family. Here are some fun facts about our feathery friends!

🐧They may be birds, but they have flippers, not wings!

🐧They are expert swimmers and divers, and some species can reach 15 mph!

🐧They're also excellent walkers with incredibly strong feet, which allow them to walk the distance of two marathons on ice to get to their breeding groups!

🐧They're the second most threatened bird group in the world, with half of the species considered endangered or vulnerable.
