What a lovely Sunday that was, thankyou everyone who came, it was lovely to see such a throng! And for your kind comments about the garden, about Rosalind Forster's wonderful prints we were showing, and for eating all the cake and removing almost all the plants from the plant sale. Together you put over £thousand in our charity tub, which is truly astonishing! Thankyou.
These 2 photos came from Caroline Barrass, thanks!

My next grass is Pheasant Tail Grass ... Anemanthele perhaps, which forms a robust clump over time and come late summer the seed heads turn that clump into a diaphanous pink candyfloss puff. This came to me from Ruth Taylor of Tickhill Country Market which had a wonderful plant stall, sadly now after Covid, no longer there.
However the grass lives on!

Still on the subject of Grasses in the Garden, here is some, put there by Piet Oudolf at the most lovely of Museums in Northern Spain, this grass could be anything, maybe just Ryegrass, can't tell till its in seed. Piet Oudolf had 'done' a stunning grass planted garden to the east of York at Scampston walled garden and is worth the trek. This sculpture park is on the south west edge of San Sebastian, Chillida bought a crumbling ruined 16th century farmhouse, spent 14 years putting it together, and it houses a lot of his work, we spent hours there, the staff were lovely, chatty ( in English) and informative.
It's the Spanish answer to Perry Green.
