A wonderful early 19th century French depiction of a memento mori motif.

The naive folk art image is in oil, and is painted directly onto an oak panel.

With the skull and crossbones sitting above a crucifix, and the hourglass symbolising the passage of time.

A wonderful mid 19th century English 'Huffer' cupboard.

With two sets of sliding pine panelled doors.

Also known as a plate-warming cupboard. These would be placed close to an open fire to heat up the metal interior.

Fitted with very heavy duty cast iron carry handles, to allow it to be moved closer to the service area in a country house.
The metal lined interior would hold the heat keeping plates hot.

Found in fantastic original painted finish.

An ideal piece for a kitchen. The thick metal racks are ideal for loading up with pots, pans and crockery.

A large 18th century Welsh oak mule chest.

Of traditional design with pegged construction, fielded panels and raised on simple stile feet

With a flat removable lid which hinges on the original wooden baton bearers.

A very good size and colour, with honest well developed patina.

A well constructed 1940s WW2 era English heavy duty hardware shop display unit.

Constructed in thick pine, consisting of four fixed shelves each increasing in height and depth. The result is a wonderful vintage stand alone storage unit with shallow top and a deep base.

The makers stamp to the side reads: C.W.S. Ltd/41. This stands for the Co-operative Wholesale Society. The ’41’ referencing the year of construction being 1941.

This was the former name of the Co-op, which originally developed from the merger of wholesale societies and independent retail companies in Yorkshire and Lancashire in the 1860s. All retail shop fittings and items produced for use by the military would have been stamped with the initials C.W.S Ltd.

Along with the painted maker’s stamp where is also a royal cypher branded mark for King George VI.

The simple utilitarian aesthetic is particularly pleasing and would allow use in various interiors.
Given the thick timber and heavy duty construction the unit is perfect to house heavy items.

A 19th century Welsh painted pine box settle of small proportions. 

Originally from Cardiganshire, this charming settle has a wonderful traditional painted finish, with the deep burgundy contrasting against the pale blue panels.

With well shaped arms showing a long life of use, and a small hatch in the middle of the seat.

A lovely example of traditional Welsh cottage furniture, circa 1850.

An early 1900s Italian wooden artist's articulated lay figure. Produced by the Josef Insam studio in Santa Cristina Val Gardena.

We have been lucky enough to be sent some copies of original photographs and catalog images by the last apprentice to be trained by the studio. They have also confirmed the figure to be the work of the company.

Supplied with a bespoke chair display stand, allowing for a seated composition.

Finely hand carved in walnut, with sophisticated ball joints, and articulated throughout its full height.

The figure will stand upright unaided.

A charming Welsh farmhouse pine panelled box settle, dating to late 19th century.

Fresh to market and sourced from the island of Anglesey.

Of small proportion and simple in it’s styling, this a wonderful example of Victorian understated Welsh country furniture.

Constructed fully from pine, and found in the original painted finish. With both peg and nail construction throughout.

The seat panel lifts out giving access to the storage area within the base. There is a single small cut out within the box base below the seat panel, conveniently placed to allow a space for the fingers to lift the seat panel up.

The settle is simple and vernacular in its construction, which shows this was made to serve the farmhouse first and foremost as a seat, with little consideration to embellishments that were not essential.

Will seat two, certainly an ideal option for a kitchen.
