Making new heddles.
The heddles on my big loom are very old and fragile. I keep having to replace them whilst I am weaving. As I need more than I have on the front 4 shafts for this project, I am going to make some more.

Only 320 to make, minus one. 😊

A new warp has been wound. Time to beam on ready for dressing the loom
The best fabric and easiest weaving require good basic preparation.

Love the colours! They are fantastic inspiration for my next project.

Time to remove the fabric. Circles when dealing with a grid are not easy, but they are there!
Yay!

A guide to the different parts of a loom.
As a weaver, I tend to forget that most people don't know what a reed, heddle or shaft is, so this should help!

Any questions ask away, then follow so you can find out. 🙂

Sheep checks and very early fly strike!

They are all fine.

From circles to squares. It's the power of the threading and treadling.

It's amazing how simply changing the order in which you press the treadles changes the pattern!
Happy weaving. 🙂

In a small change. I am showing why finishing a fabric after weaving is soooo important. Many people simply take the woven material off the loom and use it.
In the weaving process though a twist can be added and this means the fabric is hard and stiff. It also means that it may shrink after being made into something else. Therefore it should be washed before use.
I put everything I weave through the washing machine (except fringed scarves) so it can full slightly. This I do on a wool wash. If I want it to tighten up more

An attempt to explain the pattern and treadling. Please ask if I am still confusing you. I need to learn how to keep explanations simple!
Thank you!
