Christmas window 2🎄🎁🕯️
Inspired by our shop's history, we hope we achieved the feel of an Edwardian shop and some festive spirit, if not quite the historic accuracy! 😁

We have plenty of Christmas decorations and gifts in stock, as well as pieces for the dinner table.

We weren't sure what to do for the Christmas food theme, but inspired by the opulence of still-life paintings by Dutch masters, a fruit-filled extravaganza took shape! 🍎🍒🍇🫐🍐🍌🍊🍑

We'll post our other windows too soon; inspired by our shop's own history, a little Edwardian Grocers; and a retro cheese and wine party - heavy on the 🧀!

If you are planning to put your tree up this weekend and need a little extra glitz, we have refreshed our selection! We are open until late tomorrow (Friday) night for 's Switch On event, then our usual hours on Saturday and Sunday.

We get it - it's too early to be thinking about Chr###xxs, but there are only 41 shopping days at left this year before the 25/12/25 - as we are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays - so we don't want you to miss out! It is now the 25th Oct - so if you're someone whose brain works like mine, that's like a quarter of a year before X.... but that's why I'm always panic buying from the 22nd to the 24th and not enjoying the build up to 🎅. And for those of you who love the season and can't wait to get the 🎄 up on the 1st Dec, we have lots of tree decorations which are carefully selected vintage and second hand - so far more sustainable than buying new! We've plenty of non-seasonal stock in too - and a window which nods to Halloween 🎃 for those of you who think we're a bit premature 😉. Hope you enjoy the pictures and do enquire if you spot anything that catches your eye!

Celebrating from the stock in the shop at today! Missing the female photography talents of the other 50% of our team here - but here's a few (badly composed) images of pieces either designed or made by women. Images in order are , artist, framed print 'Here Comes the Summer' : , ceramicist, candle snuffer in the form of a school teacher : , glassmaker, hand blown turquoise vase : glass designer, Palm dishes for : , ceramicist, plate and flowerpot with handpainted designs for : , ceramics designer, covered jug and large and small bowls for : and , Edwardian schoolgirl, , jug, probably only ever attempt at making something in clay c1912. We probably have lots more pieces in the shop where the creative input of the women involved was never acknowledged but hope you like some of those where we are able to celebrate in

Sunday 22nd December is our last day in the shop before Christmas, so pop in between 11am and 4pm to pick up your last minute gifts, unique presents, another bauble or two and the essential extra plates, platters, dishes and glasses (or chairs!) that you need!

👑👑👑 This year's Christmas window display competition theme was Christmas songs. It took us quite a long time to choose, but we finally settled on We Three Kings, and we ended up getting a Highly Commended certificate! 😊🎄🥳

We hope you like it! We've still got lots of great gifts, no gold, frankincense or myrrh though! 😉

It's not enormous and it has been lovingly re-upholstered in William Morris 'Willow Bough' fabric - So if you fancy sittin' abso-'bloomin'-lutely still and never budging till spring - get in touch - we have a feeling this one's not going to hang around in the shop for long!
