The little finishing step you don’t necessarily see. 👀

Once the lampshade is ‘finished’, I secure the edge with a little superglue to help keep everything firmly in place.

It’s not the most glamorous part of making a lampshade, but these little details matter.

After more than five years of making lampshades, and thousands of shades made by hand, it’s time for a change.

When I started Zoe Craft Designs, I deliberately kept my prices a little lower while I built the business and gained experience.

Those prices have stayed with me for far too long.

But the cost of fabrics, materials, packaging and running a business has changed considerably. And the time, care and skill that go into each lampshade deserve to be reflected in its price.

Every shade I make involves more than simply covering a frame with beautiful fabric. I take care over pattern placement, pay attention to the finishing, check the inside for stray threads or glue marks, and make sure the finished shade sits straight.

Those details matter to me. They’ve always mattered.

But a business also needs to be sustainable, and prices set five years ago are no longer a realistic foundation for the future.

So I’m reviewing my pricing and the way I structure the collections at Zoe Craft Designs.

My aim is to continue making beautiful, carefully finished lampshades while building a business that can support the time and skill involved in making them.

I honestly don’t know what to say 🥹😭

For nearly five years, this little page had fewer than 200 followers. I kept making lampshades, sharing my work and hoping someone would see it.

And then one video took off.

Yesterday, we were around 200. Now there are more than 1,400 of you here. How is that even real?!

The video was about supporting handmade crafts and helping fight the AI slop, and seeing so many people stop to watch, share and support real, handmade work has genuinely touched me.

Behind every lampshade is a real person choosing fabrics, cutting materials, measuring, sticking and checking every detail sometimes thrice.

I’m a small, independent maker. I don’t have a marketing team, a big budget or a magic button to make people see my work. It’s just me, my fabrics and a lot of hours spent making things by hand.

So, if you’ve recently found me, welcome to Zoe Craft Designs! I make handmade fabric lampshades for people who love beautiful fabrics, colourful interiors and something a little different for their homes.

Thank you for being here. Thank you for helping handmade get seen. And thank you for reminding me that sometimes, the work you’ve been quietly doing for years finally finds its audience. ❤️
