So we have decided to do our “snack for Santa” plates a bit different to others this year. These are made from slate and the design is etched in so it is permanent! No digging them out next year and finding the vinyl is starting to peel or bubble.

Hello my lovlies 🤗

So we have been busy over the last month or so testing out different eco resins as an alternative to Jesmonite.

We have tried a few and our firm favourite is a product called Aqua Cast from Eli-Chem.

- Although Aqua Cast is a little more expensive, we found it easier to use as all we need is tap water to activate it.
- We have a longer working time, 15 minutes, instead of 7 minutes.
- It is thinner than Jesmonite so pours beautifully especially with molds that have intricate designs. -There are next to no air bubbles so fewer little "holes" in our pieces.
- It is still heat proof and just as strong as Jesmonite, infact it is a little stronger than Jesmonite.
- We can still make all of creations as before.
- It is environmentally friendly
- It is safe enough to use around children
- It is non toxic

The only slight difference we found is that it takes longer to harden in the mold than Jesmonite, up to an hour, but hey you can't rush art, right!

We will still use Jesmonite for our pieces until stock has been used, but we will be moving over to Aqua Cast. All pieces made with Aqua Cast will be quoted to say so.
