Good afternoon everybody, and happy Wednesday from myself and the team at Nikki’s Fleurs 🌸

Well… today did NOT go quite as planned. 😂

Have I ever slipped on a tiny bit of cellophane on the shop floor before? No.

Did I today? Absolutely.

And when I say I did the splits… I mean I ACTUALLY DID THE SPLITS. 😭😂

At 46 years old, I can apparently still do the splits. What I cannot do, however, is get back up afterwards. 🤣

One minute I was happily minding my own business, and the next I was auditioning for Britain’s Got Talent: Florist Edition. 🌸

I went down so gracefully, you’d have thought I’d been training for it. The getting back up, however, was less “professional dancer” and more “turtle stuck on its back.” 😂

Before the Health & Safety police come knocking, it happened in the back shop where customers aren’t allowed. Although, judging by the state of me afterwards, perhaps staff shouldn’t be allowed in there either. 🤣

So, if anybody happened to witness my spectacular performance today, what happens in Nikki’s Fleurs STAYS in Nikki’s Fleurs.

Please do not post the CCTV footage on social media. I am begging you. 😂😂

Although, if you do, please at least add some dramatic music and a slow-motion replay. If I’m going viral, I want the full celebrity treatment. 😭

Apparently it was absolutely hilarious for everyone else.

For me? Not so much. My dignity is bruised, my body is offended, and I’m now suspicious of all cellophane. 😂🌸

💜🌸 FUNERAL FLOWERS DON’T ALWAYS HAVE TO BE WHITE.

And this is the perfect example.

This casket spray was packed with gorgeous lilacs, purples and pinks — and honestly, the colours together were just beautiful. 💜🩷

One thing we hear quite a lot is, “I don’t want it to look too funeral-y.” And we completely understand what people mean.

Sometimes you want something bright. Sometimes you want their favourite colours. Sometimes you want something that actually feels like the person you’re saying goodbye to.

And that’s exactly what we try to create. ❤️

Although photographing a casket spray is another story entirely… You make this enormous arrangement, spend ages getting every flower exactly where you want it, then stand over it with your phone thinking:

“How am I meant to get the whole bloody thing in the picture?!” 📸

It’s been a wee while since I’ve made an appearance on here! 😂

Apparently, my mum’s been far too wrapped up in these blooming bus lanes, petitions and all sorts of drama lately! 🚌🙄

So naturally, I’ve been completely NEGLECTED! 😂🐶

I’ve not even been going to work at Nikki’s Fleurs! Can you believe it? My loyal customers must be wondering where I’ve disappeared to! 🌸

Anyway, while Mum’s busy trying to save the world (or at least the bus lanes outside her shop 🤣), I’ve decided to take some well-deserved time off.

So here I am, chilling in my wee house, minding my own business and staying well out of Mum’s drama! 🏡🐾

Somebody’s got to keep their sanity in this family! 🤣💕

🚨💐 CUSTOMER NOTICE – MORNING DELIVERIES 💐🚨

Well, here’s another little headache courtesy of the new bus lane restrictions! 🙈🚌

Unfortunately, for the time being, we can no longer guarantee AM deliveries.

With the new loading restrictions outside Nikki’s Fleurs, we are unable to load our delivery vehicles until after 10am.

By the time we’ve got all our lovely bouquets, hat boxes and floral arrangements safely loaded into the vans, it’s usually around 10.30am–10.45am before we can actually get on the road.

Now, I know what some people will be thinking…

“It’s only 45 minutes, Nikki!” 🤣

Aye, 45 minutes might not sound like much, but when you’ve got a van full of flowers to deliver across Edinburgh, it makes an absolutely massive difference!

Especially when you’re trying to get from one side of Edinburgh to the other, and Meadowbank has now become a one-lane obstacle course! 🚐💨

At this rate, I’ll need to start sending the flowers out the night before and hope they find their own way! 🤣💐

All jokes aside, this is a serious issue for our little business.

We pride ourselves on providing a reliable delivery service, and it’s incredibly frustrating that restrictions completely outwith our control are now affecting how we operate.

Please be assured that we are still delivering as normal, and our team will continue doing everything possible to get your flowers delivered as quickly and efficiently as we can.

Funeral deliveries and other time-sensitive orders will continue to be prioritised and arranged individually.

We just ask for a little patience and understanding while we try to navigate these changes.

And to Edinburgh Council, 45 minutes might seem insignificant on paper, but for a small business making multiple deliveries across the city every day, those 45 minutes can have a knock-on effect on the entire day.

🌸 IMPORTANT CUSTOMER NOTICE – NEW BUS LANE RESTRICTIONS 🌸

Evening guys! ❤️

Just a wee heads-up that the new 7-7-7 bus lane restrictions come into force tomorrow, and I really don’t want any of our lovely customers getting caught out with a parking ticket!

🚫 MONDAY TO FRIDAY – NO LOADING OR UNLOADING:

* 7am – 10am
* 4pm – 7pm

🚫 SATURDAY & SUNDAY – NO LOADING OR UNLOADING:

* 11am – 2pm

✅ MONDAY TO FRIDAY – LOADING PERMITTED:

* 10am – 4pm

Please remember that loading and unloading is different from parking, and you must still follow the signs outside the shop.

I’ve got a feeling the traffic wardens are going to be rather busy over the next few weeks, so please be extra careful!

There are side streets nearby, and you can also access the shop from the street behind us. However, there is a set of very steep steps leading down to the shop, so please take extra care, especially if you’re carrying flowers.

💐 My advice would be to arrange your collections between 10am and 4pm Monday to Friday, or outside the 11am–2pm restricted period at weekends.

The last thing we want is anybody getting a fine just for coming to collect their flowers!
