I feel a formal introduction to Ambrose is long overdue, we snuck him in quietly at the Scone Palace Garden Fair but really didn’t give him the fan-fare he deserves!! So a warm welcome to Ambrose - the very talented creative mind behind our collaborative scarf collection. He has taken our botanical casts in a whole new direction by reimagining them in silk & creating luxurious wearable art ❤️.
If you follow our page you will be familiar with his face & his Kickstarter project to help fund the set up costs of a new business. He is almost half way to reaching his goal & if anyone is interested in buying a scarf please take a look, every scarf bought helps him get off the starting blocks - I am biased but they are beautiful!!
This collaboration has bought Hunt&Grind a good few new followers so a big ‘Hello & Welcome’ to all of you - we are Anna (HUNTer) & Rob (GRINDrod) & we are the Blossom Squashers.
Grind will be flying solo with a small selection of our work at the CHAS Winter Fair on Saturday 7th December in Muckhart. A larger collection of work will be exhibited at St Paul’s Gallery in Kinross on the 21st & 22nd November & you can also find our work for sale at the Macrobert in Stirling over the Christmas period as part of their Handmade Festive Exhibition.
Yes I did mention the C word…apologies if that was triggering for anyone 😅😂!!

Blossom squashing is usually a calm & tranquil practice yet when September hits everything changes! The ninth month is generally spent running round the garden like a mad thing grabbing anything that’s still in flower knowing full well that Autumn is fast approaching & you’re just not ready for it!! Plenty of beauties in this selection but my heart always lands on the sycamore - prompting childhood memories of flying seedpod helicopters!!

The toms 🍅 were a great success….taste, yield & squash-ability - obvs don’t wait till they are ripe!
As for the carrots 🥕 I think Bugs Bunny would have been a tad disappointed in our efforts 🤣, if anyone has any tips I’m all ears, however they were fun to squash.
We very nearly had no peas 🫛 to work with as Grind ate them all straight from the pods but I managed to save these two, they were delicious and lovely to work with, with all their tendril details.
Probs best to leave the cucumber out of it 🤭😂.
& A quick reminder that we have a Blossom Squashing Workshop running on Friday 21st August at 6.30pm at the Honeypot Creative Cafe in South Queensferry - just a couple of spaces left so if you fancy learning how to preserve plants in plaster this one’s for you! X
