Be Inspired Fibres is a bricks and mortar shop and offers an online service based in Edinburgh, Scotland dedicated to supplying a wide range of luxury, hand dyed and exotic yarns and fibres sourced locally and from around the world. It aims to satisfy the ever demanding needs of curious modern knitters, yarn connoisseurs and fibre artists. Brands include: Istex Lett Lopi, Malabrigo, Cascade, Chiao

Goo, Lotus Yarns, Habu, ITO-Yarns, Hedgehog Fibres, Uschitita, Olann, Life in the Long Grass, Fyberspates, Schoppel Wolle, CaMaRose, Isager, Opal Sock Yarns. Social distancing rules apply in the shop, no more than 2 people in the shop. Please also wear a face covering and use hand sanitisers available.

One of my favourite sweater knits. Second time knitting with same colour and yarn, but added the Ito Shio lace as a reinforcement Kid Seta 5, to replace my original sweater which was completely worn out. ❤️

Loving my new Chiaogoo quads interchangeable needles, available in the shop , not online, I am almost finished my fourth Kumulus blouse by petite knits. Using Gepard Kid Silk 5 and Ito Shio.
This Sunday, I am taking a few days off to visit family in Banbridge in N. Ireland. Shop will reopen again on Wednesday 22nd April.

Recently arrived in the shop (not online) 4ply sock wool Wanderer from World of wool, at £7.45 per 100g /350m made with British wool and recycled nylon. Stunning colours . Handwash only. Will be closed this coming Easter Sunday for a break, re open again on Tuesday as usual.

Thank you customers for your amazing support this year. Wishing everyone a very happy Christmas and a great 2026, and hopefully more finished projects! Just finished this pair of socks for daughter for Christmas. Closed now until 2nd January.

Such a short season here in Scotland for knitting summer tops and yarns, but was such a quick knit with 2 strands of Tynn Line, only took just over 3 balls, and it only took a few weeks. I am going to knit another one to wear for my Pilates class. It is such an adaptable pattern and you can use a wide variety of yarns which knits up to a DK weight.

Some lovely Sheepsoft BFL/ Masham 4ply by laxtons have arrived in the Marchmont shop, not yet available on my online shop yet. Slightly sheepy but great for rustic shawls, colour-work sweaters and accessories.

This is such an indulgence, trying the supreme triple matcha at the recently opened HeyTea in Edinburgh and knitting up test swatches on my day off. Always knit up a small swatch if you’re not familiar with working with new yarns especially if they have unusual constructions and blends. I like to knit them with different size needles and sometimes different even type of needles - metal instead of wood or vice versa
