A little bit about me 🌸
I’ve had a few new followers on Facebook and it made me realise that my previous introductory post was a little outdated so here’s a new one!
I’m Natalie, a 35 year old mum of two little boys, History Teacher by day and Flower Grower and Florist by night (and weekends!).
I’m originally from the south side of Glasgow but have been living in Edinburgh nearly 13 years when I moved here for my first permanent teaching job and I’ve never left - the city or the school!
We moved to Portobello in 2016 and it’s Home.
I’ve always loved flowers, with a keen gardener for a mum and enjoyed arranging supermarket bunches since I was a teenager working in Morrisons. But I grew increasingly fussy as I grew older and when we finally moved house and got a garden at the start of Covid, I realised I would be better off growing my own flowers. So I did.
This is my third year growing and selling flowers. I am self taught from hours and hours of avid research and from learning from the incredible gardening Instagram community. I have done some Floristry workshops and over the years developed my own style - natural, garden flowers.
I’m very proud of what I have achieved and how much I have improved. I hope to continue going from strength to strength, though I am awful at putting myself out there and the idea of networking is terrifying! So I will just keep on sharing my Portobello grown, organic and seasonal flowers with this wonderful community and see what the future holds!
I’m also a big ballet fan (I still go to classes), have a cake addiction…and a trainer one too! I love my job and find it a privilege to help young people grow into amazing adults. Spring is beyond a doubt my favourite season because not only is it the return of the sun and gardening, but it also involves a lot of my favourite colours - pink, blue and green; blossom, new fresh leaves and blue sky.
So thank you for following along! Do check out my saved highlights for growing tips and I’ll keep adding to these. Also let me know if there’s any other flower growing/arranging content that would be helpful 🌸
