So…… there’s a moose in the hoose… a shrew in fact. So it is protected, but we are not. To divert my mind from the irrational horror of this, I’ve been organising drawers, making stupid covers for IKEA shelves, and going to bed at 7.30. ( with Geoff obvs, cause he’s terrified as well) meanwhile Terry the shew is living his best life in the living room.

Making more work than is probably necessary again. This week I was mostly working on cooky lampshades, ie apparently “pantry shades”. I eschew glue, so ended up making a little circle for the top rather than binding, which just wouldn’t sit right no matter how hard I tried. Pointless really, it’ll be at ceiling height so never seen ☺️ still, I’ll know

This innocuous little corner of a curtain has 6 different rows of 5 different stitches in it. All the labour you cannot see that helps to keep all the layers together for decades. Lock, double lock, ladder, running and fell. I don’t show how we make things generally, it’s a competitive market after all, but that means you don’t get to see the difference between what we do and what others do. So this is just a taster ☺️

Of course, because I don’t care to earn a living, and this is my favourite fabric of all time, I chose the extra mile on these beauties. Just couldn’t bear (bare?) to machine a tape on, so gathered by hand and did it proper like. Turnell & Gigon , Mrs Munro, best blue ever ❤️❤️❤️

I have yet to find a 1” tape that’s strong enough to hold interlined curtains in the long term. Normal hooks just don’t work… so, we sew. Not pretty but really strong. ……. And my shoes cause I love them ❤️

We have had plenty castles, halls and grand houses over the years. Brechin, Aldourie, Hopetoun, Thirlstane, Shawdon, more recently Inveraray and Ayton…but I’m thrilled to announce a new whole house project in Lairg. Our offer has been accepted and I’m on the look out for some gratis help from you all ! Firstly some outdoor/ indoor fabric, a small strong print that can be seen from a distance.
