Michelle Lowe Pottery

Michelle Lowe Pottery Fun hand-made slipware pottery by Michelle Lowe I do not have a shop but I do keep work in stock and I am open by appointment (no regular shop hours).

I make a range of earthenware pots which are hand-thrown on a potters wheel and decorated using colour slips (liquid clays).

When I was very pregnant, I did lots of sitting in our garden sketching vegetables growing.

I liked the images and intended to translate them into pot designs (during all the free time i would have with my new baby gurgling contentedly beside me…)

My son took his time arriving, so I did manage to make a set of cereal bowls for us with veggies on. But then, he arrived and I somehow didn’t find oodles of time to take the ideas forward 🤷‍♀️

Now, a mere 9 years later, I’m having a play about with them again…

Looking forward to seeing how they turn out…

A glaze firing about to go on… I enjoy making patterns with the powdery white pots as I try to squeeze everything I can into each shelf. This is a ring of toast racks with a ring of tiny pots inside them and then one large serving bowl in the middle.

They will be emerging tomorrow night, all shiny and colourful 🤞

Good morning!

Here are a few nice pieces that came out of my kiln early this morning. Hooray!

The kiln is now reloaded and it’s time for breakfast…

(I might sound very industrious but that’s actually my work for the day done as now I’m off to the beach with my daughter’s school class.)

And it’s sunny!

Hooray! hooray!

Unloading a bisque kiln this morning. I’m excited to see how these new butter dishes come out. It’s a new design I’ve been working on. Hopefully coming with me to Potfest Scotland in two weeks time. Eek!
