Light at face height (not just overhead), warm white bulbs only, PIR sensors for night lighting, matching metal finishes, and checking your zone rating before you buy anything.

Nobody thinks to ask for this. PIR skirting lighting means you get from bed to en-suite at night without fumbling for a switch or blinding yourself, or your partner.

And it’s not just for the guest bedroom, put it in the master bedroom, the kids’ rooms, anywhere with an ensuite or a night-time bathroom trip.

It has to go in at first fix, so if you’re planning a renovation, this is your reminder to add it to every relevant room, not just one.
