💔💔💔

Not a post I hoped I’d be having to write so soon but unfortunately dad passed away early morning peacefully at the Highland Hospice in Inverness! 😢

It’s been a pretty tough couple of months as a lot of you already know, not helped with my back surgery & complications that have followed but dad went dramatically downhill following my return from ARI and thankfully Macmillan Cancer Support and Highland Hospice were there to quickly step in and were amazing every step of the way, so massive thanks to them but also all the amazing friends, family, the girls in the shop and makers that have been around me throughout this really difficult time! ❤️

Dad loved his time spent in the shop, meeting folks from all walks of life, and also spending time around the lovely team from the Storehouse, and I know he will be missed a lot by all of you too! 😞

We will be holding a celebration of life for dad at Heathmount Hotel on Saturday 3rd October (further details to follow in due course) and you are all welcome to attend to celebrate the absolute legend of a guy he was! 🥰

The shop will be closed that day but will be covered by my amazing team up till and beyond that date…

Sooooo, had my surgery done Monday & after a few slightly stressful/traumatic incidences (of course there would be with me! 😂🙈) the surgeon is pretty happy overall with the outcome… I may have to stay in a few extra days than originally expected to iron out a few neurological and wound healing issues but I’m out of high dependency now and in to my own room & would much rather be safe than sorry! 👌 Even if it means a few extra days of hospital food! 😂

The neurological team at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary have been absolutely amazing and I cannot fault them, especially in putting me at ease with all my PTSD, allergic reactions, strong pain med tolerance, etc! 😉🥰

In the meantime you guys are in the more than capable hands of Claire, Liz, Helen & Emma, so keep on shopping! 🛍️🎁

🛍️ SHOP UPDATE - NOW OPEN UNTIL NOVEMBER 2026🎁

So, a wee bit of news on the shop front…with my back surgery appointment coming in much sooner than expected (I’m heading down to ARI on 16th August 😮) we are delaying our closure here at the shop until the end of November, so you’ve all got a few extra months to get in for a visit & tackle those all important Christmas shopping lists! 😉🎉

Our last trading day will be Saturday 28th November, and then for December we will have some pop up shops on the go at different locations (more info to follow in due course). I am also in the process of organising some workshops with some of our lovely makers for October & November so keep your eyes peeled for info on that soon…

Massive shout out to my fab team Claire Peat Design, Emma Two Blue Dogs Designs, Helen, and Liz Assynt House for making it possible to keep the shop running during my surgery and recovery time! 🥰

✨ TOMORROW ✨ (Saturday 18th July) we have the lovely from joining us in the shop with a permanent jewellery experience where you can pop in and get your very own piece of stunning welded jewellery… 🥰

You choose the chain and the charm/s and Maree does her magic, and voila, gorgeous bling creations! 💖

There will be lots of different chains (silver & gold) and charms to choose from and we will even have some cheeky complimentary fizz or elderflower presse on the go! 🥂

No bookings needed, just pop in tomorrow between 10am & 5pm, make your selection and browse the shop with some fizz whilst you wait for Maree to weld it on for you… 🛍️

🌟 BIG SHOP NEWS 🌟

So, this was never going to be an easy post to write but after 3+ amazing years at the cabin by The Storehouse the time has come for me to hand my notice in! 😢

Def wasn’t an easy call to make (and I know a lot of you will be gutted too!) but with everything I have going on at the moment it seemed like a sensible time to step back and review what the future looks like for me, my businesses, and of course Friend of Highland Tide Designs…BUT, the good news is, we won’t be closing overnight, our final day in the cabin will be Wednesday 30th September so you’ve still got nearly 3 months to pop in and see us, AND after closing we will be continuing in a pop up and workshops format, which we will share more info about in due course… 🥰

Between now and the end of September we will be re-stocking some of our best selling items but unfortunately some of the stock we have in the shop at the moment will be last ofs, so please make sure you pop in sooner rather than later if there were any specific items you had your eye on! 🛍️

I’ll do a proper thank you post closer to our closing date but a big shout out goes to the team, Claire from , Emma from , Liz from , all of our lovely makers, and of course dad for all the support in making this wee shop what it has become! 🫶🫶🫶

The girls 🐶 (Storm & Piper) will of course be in to milk as much attention and treats as possible from you all before the end of September! 😜

And, don’t forget the fabulous from will be in the shop with me on Saturday 18th July to adorn you all with gorgeous welded jewellery! ✨ This will be worked on a walk in basis so make sure you pop along between 10am and 5pm that day to see us… 💖
