Not every shutter material is right for every home🏡
Hardwood shutters are a beautiful, premium product and perform exceptionally well in the right environment. However, because timber is a natural material, it reacts to changes in temperature and humidity.
We recently came across an installation in a period property where prolonged high humidity had contributed to the hardwood frame cracking over time. Factors such as condensation, limited ventilation and even multiple humidifiers can significantly increase moisture levels indoors.
That’s why choosing the correct material is so important.
For properties with consistently high humidity, older homes prone to condensation, bathrooms, kitchens or utility rooms, composite shutters are often the better choice. They won’t absorb moisture like timber, making them highly resistant to warping, swelling and cracking caused by damp conditions.
At British Made Shutters, we don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. We believe in recommending the right product for the right environment, ensuring your shutters look and perform their best for years to come.
Have you ever considered how the environment in your home could affect your shutters?🪵
