We're getting ready for First Thursdays from 4pm today.

Join us from 5pm this evening for a relaxed evening of vintage shopping, the Vintage Treasure Chest, a special 10% event discount, and our free drop-in talk: The Weird Case of Uranium Glass.

We'll be exploring why some glass glows, what uranium glass actually is, and a few of the myths and misconceptions surrounding it.

Talks start at 5:30pm, 6:30pm and 7:30pm. No booking required – just drop in.

See you on Gandy Street.

I know y'all love crafts as much as me so we've launched some card making kits! They include everything you need to make ten unique greetings cards from genuine vintage material.

Wedgwood is known for its iconic white-on-blue jasperware, a matte stoneware that was invented in the 1770s by Josiah Wedgwood. But did you know it doesn't just come in white on blue? This is just a small sample of the colours available from my current stock.

I’m VERY excited about this one.

Wand Vintage is joining First Thursdays on Gandy Street this summer, and for the very first evening I’m doing something I’ve wanted to do for ages:

“The Curious Case of Uranium Glass”

If you’ve ever been in the shop and heard me wax lyrical about my glowing glass, this is basically that enthusiasm turned into a 15 minute talk - where I get to combine my academic science background with my love for vintage and antique objects.

I’ll be chatting about the history of uranium glass, why it glows, whether it’s actually dangerous, and why these strange luminous little objects have become one of the most talked-about things in the shop.

I’m doing short drop-in talks with Q&A at:
5:30
6:30
7:30

No booking needed, just wander upstairs and join in.

We’ll also be open late for shopping all evening, and there’ll be 10% off purchases over £10 for First Thursdays visitors - on anything, not just uranium glass!

Honestly, I’d really love to see some familiar faces there. Gandy Street is such a lovely place full of music, independent shops, food and people actually out enjoying the city, which feels very needed.

If you’re planning to come, comment and let me know. And if you know someone who loves strange little vintage things, send this to them.

See you on the first floor,

Charlie :)

(P.S. be sure to visit all the Gandy Street businesses taking part - not an exhaustive list but Boston Tea Party Exeter have an indoor market with Circular Social , have Soul Pizza Truck in the house, plus shopping at Flamingos Vintage Kilo, Floren Flowers, and . Oh, and cocktails at AND pop up comedy with . Big thanks to InExeter for organising it!)

I fell in love with these vintage prints of antique botanical drawings... does that make them vintage squared? Mushrooms, fungi and wild plants, one of each design so once they're gone they're gone!

One year ago today, we picked up the keys to Wand Vintage.

At the time, it was an empty shell with bare windows, weird floors, and a lot of possibility. I just had to hope that there were enough people out there who loved old things as much as I do.

A year later, the shop has become something even better than I dreamed of. It's hard work and I'm still building it up, but it's been a great year.

Thank you to everyone who has visited, bought something, recommended us, stopped for a chat, or supported us online. You’ve helped shape what WV has become.

See you on the first floor!

Charlie :)
