Today was collection day for this beauty. A lovely customer commissioned me to make a bespoke stool to fit in a little nook. Looking forward to seeing it in it's new home.
It was made with burr Elm with a live edge to the front and a smooth one to the rear. I really love the unusual grain pattern in this wood, such a joy to work with.

A little piece of Scottish craftsmanship for the inaugural Falkland Wh**ky Festival

I was delighted to have the opportunity to create a bespoke branded coaster for each vendor, made from Scottish oak and finished with their individual branding through laser etching.

There’s a special connection between these coasters and wh**ky. Oak is at the heart of both, from the timber used to create the coasters to the barrels that help shape the character of the wh**ky.

And then there’s fire.

A wh**ky barrel is charred to prepare the oak for its role in maturation, while the laser uses heat to burn each brand into the coasters.

Two very different processes, but both leaving their mark on oak.

It was a real pleasure to combine Scottish oak, craftsmanship and wh**ky heritage for such a fantastic event.

I was delighted to have had the opportunity to create something special for the inaugural Falkland Wh**ky Festival.

For each vendor, I created a bespoke branded coaster, crafted from Scottish oak.

There’s a lovely connection between the coasters and wh**ky itself through the oak. The same material that plays such an important role in the maturation of wh**ky also forms the foundation of these pieces.

I also love the connection between the two processes involving fire. Before a wh**ky barrel can do its job, the inside of the oak is charred through a controlled burning process, helping to prepare the wood and influence the character of the wh**ky as it matures. For the coasters, the brands are created through laser etching using heat to burn each design precisely into the Scottish oak.

It was a real pleasure to bring together Scottish oak, craftsmanship and a little bit of wh**ky heritage for such a fantastic event. Really enjoyed meeting all of the vendors.

Thank you to all of the visitors to my studio over the weekend. It was lovely to see to many familiar faces and to meet some new ones.
This Saturday I am heading to St. Andrews Town Hall for the October Artisan Market St Andrews. It is always a lovely and well curated market. There will be over 40 artists/makers over two floors and a pop up cafe with the best soup and cake. Hope to see you all there.
