Having never encountered a real mermaid before it was a complete surprise…

I was enjoying the sunshine yesterday Porthleven Market while people watching from my stall when I noticed a very beautiful lady looking into the harbour. She was wearing a stunning flowing dress and carrying a golden parasol- as she passed I complimented her on her dress and outfit and she stopped for a chat. She revealed her real identity as The Porthleven Mermaid 🧜🏻‍♀️ and I noticed that she was adorned with golden shells in her hair, wrists and neck- obviously collected from the depths of the bay. Hopefully when I see her next time she won’t be disguised as a fully mobile human!

It’s a new season Roskorwell Cornish Lavender and I am delighted to be part of their gallery again this year.

If you haven’t been before, Sam and Mark open their beautiful little farm as a gallery and tearoom throughout June and July and it’s a delight to visit- Sam’s cakes and scones are legendary! You can see the Lavendar stills, lavender products and plants alongside other local artists and artisans. You can see in the last picture space for another maker!

This weekend I’ll be Truro School for their Family Fun Day- open to all- 12-5, then Sunday I’ll be back Porthleven Market. Next week Tuesday and Thursday- Porthleven, and Saturday, one of the best days of the year, Mazey Day in Penzance- Sunday Quay Fair in Newlyn!

Join us on Saturday, 20 June, from 12pm – 9pm for a full day of festival fun across Truro School. Expect circus workshops, climbing and archery, family entertainment, food and drink stalls, Little Eden Bounce Parc, swimming pool inflatables, silent discos, artisan craft stalls, magicians, storytelling fairies, live music all day (including sunset sessions with funk soul group Groove Diggers), and so much more. I really need to make space and time to get on with this one.

Normally when the summer season kicks in I carve in the quiet spells Porthleven Market but I’ve been concentrating on keeping warm and dry rather than carving as the lino is hard and difficult to work with. This one is pretty detailed so I don’t want to wreck it with slips!

Bizarrely I’ve been inspired with a new Christmas idea that’s bubbling… I need to finish this so I can start that… maybe that’s the motivation I needed!

Weather permitting I’ll be Porthleven Market tomorrow (Tuesday) although the forecast isn’t looking promising… Thursday and Sunday. Saturday I’ll be Truro School fun day- it’s open to all and looks like a fab family day out!

It’s a green day.

I’m downing tools today to go to my cousins wedding.
Next week I’ll be Porthleven Market Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday and the Truro School fun day on Saturday. This is a free event, open to all and promises to be packed with all sorts of entertainment and activities for all the family!
