The beginnings of Badger & Birch started in 2012 when I discovered printmaking as a process and began creating textural prints and cards as I was finishing a masters degree in Children's Illustration. This small venture has recently expanded allowing me to do what I love best, everyday! Inspiration is drawn from the surfaces, textures and nature found on countryside wanders with my trusty companio
n Badger the Cocker Spaniel. I translate these through a varied use of different printmaking techniques and processes (I'm yet to find my favourite, I love them all!). I collage together layers of different monoprints, gelatin printed designs, lino prints and screen prints. The grasses and birdlife surrounding my Bedfordshire home make regular appearances in my printing designs. I begin each design with collections and photographs from nature walks, surroundings or inspiring visits out. Feathers, grasses and seed heads are used in different printmaking and collage techniques to create whimsical handmade printed images. These are layered together which produce these unique patterns and limited edition prints. All of Badger & Birch’s products are lovingly designed, handmade and finished by me in my home studio (aka spare bedroom/ garage) in Bedfordshire before being packaged and sent winging their way to you with love and care. Badger & Birch consists of a growing product range of decorative printed homeware and art pieces designed to add texture and colour to people’s homes.
